You do know that that quote from Alan Pardew which has seemingly upset so many Everton fans has been totally misinterpreted? He was not talking about performance or anything, but just ability to retain players and not have to sell them.

This is the actual quote:

And then this is what he said after the match:

He also talked of giving Everton a footballing lesson. He's a cock juggling thunderc*nt and he'll get it healthy off me until he retires or gets eaten by a shark

And you honestly cant see what an utter bulb he sounds with those quotes, misunderstood or not?

"A similar position to Arsenal"

Good grief. The man is a fool.

how much did he sell ba to chelsea for?

Care to explain what is foolish about that?

Christ, where to start!

CL qualifying record.
League position since he pronounced they were similar. Or before come to think of it.
Joe Kinnear.
Trophies.
Longevity in the top div.

I will concede you have a boss stadium, decent support, (in a one club city though), and have produced some magic players over the years, but seriously, do you honesty believe that you are similar to Arsenal?

Your answer will speak volumes.

Like I said in my original post, he was not talking about performance or success or anything (clearly Arsenal dwarf us in that regard); he was just talking about the ability to keep players and not having to sell them.

£7.5m was his release clause. That was out of our control.

he didn't say along the lines of "you won't see us selling our best players for £7m, unless they have that in their release clause" though, did he?

how was it out of your control? could have not put it in the contract in the first place like.

They'll be a lot of pressure on the team come Monday cause a win would put us in a really good position in the league and keep up our good start.

Under moist there'd be a good chance we'd crap our pants but hopefully things will be different under Martinez.

Well I guess he thought that would be taken for granted. What he was saying is that if a club wants one of our top players then we are not going to sell them unless they offer a massive price for them.

Ba (or should of say one of Ba's many, many agents) insisted it be put in his contract. Same thing happen with West Ham. We tried to negotiate a new contract with Ba without the transfer clause, but he did not want to. None of our other players have release clauses.

So he was not talking about your finish that year then? At all.

If you are saying that NUFC generate the kind of revenue that means you could sign a £40m player without Ashley dipping imto his wallet, then Pardew was talking bollocks.

If you could, then indeed, in one respect, you are similar to Arsenal.

..still a lot of understandable bitterness on here towards Pardew because he got carried away with the temporary position Newcastle were in. More specifically, he talked that they were in a different league to us and that was a premature and inaccurate view. I wont say it has totally backfired in case we get beat on Monday, but it was a silly position to take.

Great read Chico as always. It's these match reports that kept me coming back to the site, as a new user just since this summer I was quickly getting tired of the negativity!

Very excited for this especially after todays games. If Sunderlands players can show their happiness in being freed from the dictator and grab a point tomorrow, we could be looking at 3rd place if we can beat these.

Under the last manager we would often mess up these good chances to grab a good league position. Lets see if they can take the pressure and give a noisy crowd what they want.

2-0! COYB!

No, he was not.

I will try again :), he was saying that we are in a similar position to them in terms of player retention and not having to sell them. I did not say anything about our revenues being similar.
