Back in 1984, after graduating with a Masters degree in physical biochemistry from Auckland University, I headed off to London (via the Para Regiment....long story , don't ask). Wham was the big pop group around at the time and this Geordie lass invited me to accompany her to their finale at Wembley. Now, I was no virgin, but that girl knew things that literally blew me away. So, I have a soft (ironically) spot for the Geordies.
