No, he was not.

I will try again :), he was saying that we are in a similar position to them in terms of player retention and not having to sell them. I did not say anything about our revenues being similar.

demba ba ?

what about that left back to the RS?

also that one who wants to go to arsenal Yohan Cabaye.

seems no one wants to play at the Super-plastic Mix voodoo arena?

Fully ignoring Pardew's attitude to Everton, it is still clear that he is an absolutely atrocious beaut and a complete fraud of a manager. I'll always be grateful for McFadden's volley against Charlton in 07, just for the look on Alan's grid after.

Newcastle have a few good players. I can't for the life of me seeing them being much of a problem to us though. 2 or 3 goals will be the margin, imo. Football's football though I guess.

Ace, Chico, my favourite type of preview. Ruthless.

Demba Ba had a release clause in his contract, so selling him was out of our control.

You mean Enrique? He was in his last year of his contract and was refusing to sign a new one, so we sold him (like Arsenal did with RVP) and replaced him with Davide Santon. Amusingly one of the reasons Enrique gave for wanting to leave was because he said we would never finish in the top 6. The season he left we finished 5th :).

Arsenal have tried to sign Cabaye for the last two seasons, we have not wanted to sell him, so we haven't. Kind of proves the point.

You do know that that quote from Alan Pardew which has seemingly upset so many Everton fans has been totally misinterpreted? He was not talking about performance or anything, but just ability to retain players and not have to sell them.

This is the actual quote:

And then this is what he said after the match:

ask moutsgoat i am an excellent quoter.

this is what pardew actually said

Alan Pardew said:
Forget about Everton and Aston Villa, we have put ourselves in a similar position to Arsenal

Alan Pardew said:
We have players who are not on the salaries these top clubs can offer.

There is a clause there.

There is a situation with his contract and we are in talks with him and his agent.

It is not a foregone conclusion that he will stay, but the Newcastle public have played their part singing his name. He must love that."

The one security I have is that [owner]Mike Ashley is a difficult seller. He is not going to let someone go for £7m, he is going to want top, top money.

But if Yohan Cabaye gets a call from Manchester United and they tell him he is going to be the next Paul Scholes I am not going to be able to stop him.

so he's on the one hand saying forget about little old everton, we're like arsenal.

then he says we're not paying the same amount as arsenal so actually anyone can go.

yes thats right. we can see precisely what he meant.

I don't know how many times I have to say this, but he is not talking about success, performance, club stature, salaries or revenue, he was just talking about our position when other teams try to buy our top players, which is similar to Arsenal's.

no he was referring to finishing above everton in the league.

it all went to his head. failing to grasp everton were distracted by a cup run and a lack of goals early in the season plus draws at the wrong time. yet he thinks he's champions league

that was what he meant.

the following season you were looking like relegation candidates

read his quote. he had egg on his face big time

I am sorry but I don't know what you mean.

These are his quotes from that page:

Alan Pardew said:
I can't fault my players. They have been absolutely brilliant this season and I don't think many of the top teams have won at Goodison Park this season.

Arsenal and Tottenham both won so that softens the blow a little bit (of missing out on the Champions League).

We are very proud of what we have achieved.

And then in the video he says it is an achievement to finish above Everton because they are a great club.

So I am not sure what you point is?

Well I guess he thought that would be taken for granted. What he was saying is that if a club wants one of our top players then we are not going to sell them unless they offer a massive price for them.

Ba (or should of say one of Ba's many, many agents) insisted it be put in his contract. Same thing happen with West Ham. We tried to negotiate a new contract with Ba without the transfer clause, but he did not want to. None of our other players have release clauses.

Fair play to you, mate, and I think you're arguing in all sincerity, even if I am struggling to accept your points. What you may not know, though, is that your whopper of a manager has plenty of 'previous' with our club. OK, the gnashers may be more blinging nowadays, but we still recognize him. 'If you know, yer history' (as we are partial to declaring in this parish) you will understand. And if you want a brief reminder as to why we hate the egotistical crUnt, check the Youtube footage of his OTT celebrations from last year's flukey 2-2 when he was banned from the touchline. As you're all half-French up in Geordieland these days, look up what a 'm'as-tu vu' is in French slang. It sums that tw@t up to a tee.

Big game for us this, fingers crossed as 3 points will put us in the top 4,tricky opponents Newcastle so unpredictable.
Hope Martinez has the lads fired up for this and goes balls out for the win.
