Fully ignoring Pardew's attitude to Everton, it is still clear that he is an absolutely atrocious beaut and a complete fraud of a manager. I'll always be grateful for McFadden's volley against Charlton in 07, just for the look on Alan's grid after.

Newcastle have a few good players. I can't for the life of me seeing them being much of a problem to us though. 2 or 3 goals will be the margin, imo. Football's football though I guess.

Demba Ba had a release clause in his contract, so selling him was out of our control.

You mean Enrique? He was in his last year of his contract and was refusing to sign a new one, so we sold him (like Arsenal did with RVP) and replaced him with Davide Santon. Amusingly one of the reasons Enrique gave for wanting to leave was because he said we would never finish in the top 6. The season he left we finished 5th .

Arsenal have tried to sign Cabaye for the last two seasons, we have not wanted to sell him, so we haven't. Kind of proves the point.

You do know that that quote from Alan Pardew which has seemingly upset so many Everton fans has been totally misinterpreted? He was not talking about performance or anything, but just ability to retain players and not have to sell them.
