We will 100% get more than 5 points from these games.

Have a look at the trajectory we are currently on. 1 point from 12. Alarm bells are ringing for a reason
They’re only ringing if you let it, too many fans are starting to look backwards instead of thinking and acting positively.

You think City and their fans wrote themselves off after shipping 5 to Leicester? They haven’t lost a game since

The RS shipped 7 at Villa, did they go into meltdown, no they got behind their team and they haven’t lost since

It’s about damn time we stopped thinking like a small team looking over our shoulders and acted like a big team again

Its not the point really is it. If you keep persisting with players who aren't good enough then how do you ever expect to progress? Hes the captain, hes a shrinking violet, prone to defensive errors, offers next to no leadership and can't cross a ball. Its the same old thing, we brought on Tosun to win the game. We persist with garbage players and I fully understand we are constrained with finances etc but guys like him have been at Everton for long enough to know they arent what we need if we want to progress. They're a safe bet to keep us anchored where we are. Yet they still feature.

I would honestly rather we play some youth, like we did with DCL (best player so far this season) and Holgate (best player last season). It of course takes time to bed in youth but we aint going to do a thing with gimps like coleman and sigurdsson starting. You think these lads will win us a cup final if we somehow get to one this season? I'd put money on them losing us one. They're barriers to what we want to do, or say we want to do.
What!!??

You won't have been saying anything like that through the first seven games when he was excellent. He's been missing for the last two and, really, was far from our worst player today.

There is nobody currently better in the squad than Coleman at playing right-back. So of course I want him to play the next game. We know Kenny isn't good enough and Godfrey isn't a right-back.

We can't magic a right-back up out of thin air, and it's not our most problem position right now anyway.

It's one of them, but the main issue was always a complete lack of depth up top, which means as soon as we get an injury or suspension to Dom or Rich, we can't play 4-3-3 effectively. That was an issue at the start of October and it's been proven to cost us.
If thats our main issue, why cant we keep a clean sheet? Even with an entirely new midfield screen we simply cannot keep a clean sheet. We took the lead and completely fell to bits today. Coleman is a key component and for me, its mentality. I can't be arsed justifying my opinion on him tbh, I just dont think hes good enough. You rightly point out nor are a lot of our other players but coleman's our captain and I just expect more from someone in that role. Or of course we could bring Sigurdsson into the captains role. Oh wait.

I mostly agree, but at the start of the season the new signings all had such a positive impact, so you can't just say 'they're not good enough'.

The issue has derived from not bringing in one or two more players in the last window - and the main one was up front, because we lost one player (Richarlison) and it completely knocked the system out of shape.

Carlo should have reacted better and changed it (albeit he did against Newcastle to disastrous effect), but it comes down to not getting more in.
Good first 4 games, crap last 4 games.

We can only perform when we are safely in midtable

Thing is, Gomes has been poor in two games - Liverpool and Newcastle - granted. Other than that, all his other performances (only 3 anyway) were fine.

The main issue in that 4-3-3 is without a player like Richarlison to stretch teams, it doesn't work.

Then like you say we have two players who naturally want to press and win the ball.

Gylfi is just dreadful when starting games - he's a player who can be semi-competent coming on when the pace has slowed, like we saw in the early part of the season.

I'd have given Gomes another shot today, tbh, but not sure he'd have made the difference. Already looks like Gbamin is gonna be given a big task when he's fit, but not sure he's the answer either to the problems we have in there.

True but without Richy, the attack still has something to offer if the midfield was more balanced.

I thought Bernard was really good today. Was our most creative outlet, got our goal. But he won't do much tracking back...then on the other side James won't either.

So instead of a midfield supporting the attack and allowing them to work, we're a bit disjointed.

Look at Chelsea. Play a similar system but basically have Kante and Jorginho sitting while they let 4 attackers do their work.

Good to see the North Korea style media reaction to the Derby has resulted in fair refereeing since.
Instead of floating victim narratives you should perhaps be asking why it so often happens that derby matches derail Everton’s season by triggering a subsequent run of bad results. Playing badly for the immediate sequence of matches after games with Liverpool has been an Everton thing for long enough to not require a refereeing conspiracy to explain this latest instance of the phenomenon.
