Now I have my problems with Barkley, I think he's lazy and he needs to up his workrate big time.

But he did more in 5mins of coming on, than Naismith did all game, he created our only game winning chance for Coleman all game, if he'd have been on earlier, we'd have had more chances, the amount of our attacks that broke down due to Naismith today was too many to stomach, he was like a DM for them breaking up our plays.

It's not enough to give 100% like Naismith does, not in the position he plays as a link man for our 28m striker, Barkley has been moved from pilar to post to accommodate him and it's wrong, Barkley is a better number 10 than Naismith could ever dream of, because he can control it in tight situations, players stand off him scared of what he's going to do, and he can find a blue shirt a lot more often than Naismith does, he proved that today.

We need to get Lennon and Barkley in the side, so for me, Barry and Naismith are benched.
I have been bombarded from all directions in here for even daring to make a negative comment about Naismith and a certain other player who shall remain nameless.

Either many have minimal ambitions for our club or just can't see through their tinted glasses.
He isn't good enough or a starting place in a top half team.

I think I agree here mate. There were times when naismith got the ball in that space and you knew nothing would come of it. The problem with Barkley is his decision making, the longer he has to think the more likely he is to give it away.when acting on instinct he can be virtually unplayable

Well, when we get into the top half, we can drop him.

When McCarthy isn't there, we need him to provide some effort and tenacity. He isn't technically good enough, when we actually start to ping it around, his touch isn't good enough. However, what we have needed in recent weeks has been sleeves rolled up and getting stuck in and he'll do that all day.

I don't like slating Naismith because he busts a gut every game playing for us, but he's in a very important position, and he's just not good enough on the ball, too many times our attacks break down with him.

Surprised ( but not too surprised) with some of the negativity on here tonight. Other than a ten minute spell early in the 2 nd half we were the better side.
Defensively we were excellent (again) which isn't bad considering "he's turning us into Wigan".

Which is down to age. His performance with the ball will come he just needs to aim to be better of it. He was decent in both today albeit for 5 mins.

We didn't though did we

We did tonight because we went with three DM's, We didn't in the other games, Don't post waffle

Ok then, against palace we sat so deep for most of the game that we ended up playing 2 defensive banks of 4. Call it 8 at the back if you want. Against city we were a bit more open. Just because we didnt name 3 dcm doesn't mean we weren't ultra defensive.

Fwiw I'm happy that Martinez has shown that he can change the style but hopefully he'll find a happy medium sooner rather than later

Naismith will run chase harry for 90 mins and for that he must be applauded.
He pops up with the occasional goal as well.Work/team ethic is fantastic,
But compare him to players in his position at other clubs Erikson Couthino Silva just shows his limitations.

He does bust a gut. But when we get in someone better in the starting 11, he won't be missed.
We have a better player, how about playing Barkley in some say his best position, number 10, the link man, Naismith's position.

Players stand off Barkley, his hype is known, but in tight situations he has the skill, the touch, to keep our attacks alive.

I'd have no problem with Naisy being in the starting 11 every week if he was playing second striker to Rom, with somebody creative behind them. But the way we play now, he just breaks down our attacks, he was the worst player in the blue shirt today, with Barry being close.

In Martinez's defence, Barkley has been absolute rubbish all season. Should have been benched long ago. The second he turns it around and justifies his spot in his position, and doesn't get put there, I will criticise Martinez for that one.

Awful match, terrible atmosphere, terrible football.

Everton & Liverpool played like the Basketball players in Space Jam. Surely they have been drugged.
