Porto were brilliant, id rather struggle against a team like them than anhilate some no marks 4-0.

Got to say, i had no problem with Hibbert signing a new deal, but you know what? He was hilariously bad today.

I was delighted when we loaned Barry and appalled when we resigned him especially due to the length of the contract. I thought the signs last season where there towards the end but hopefully you're right.

I said maybe to Jags and Baines. I thought both where poor by their standard seasons and the main reason we went on the long winning run was the injury to Jags but they still have a season or two left, maybe just not as guaranteed starters.

Naismith isn't good enough playing as a lone striker but if we need a goal could do a job in a front 2. His touch isn't good enough to be a No10.

Decent post again. I guess your first post was just badly-worded.

Stevie G, tho'.

.....2 weeks until kick-off, today blew away a few cob webs. The next week or so will be proper solid training to get everybody up to speed.
Yea, and i'd guess we're a couple of weeks behind Porto fitness wise, we probably won't be up to full speed 'til our first game like.

You need the quality though. When we pressed Porto they just popped it around and played through us. When they pressed us it just went back to Roebels to kick.

We where much better with Besic, Stones and McCarthy. Ok so Porto might have been letting us play a bit more but I think games like this still show who can comfortably play this style and who can't.

I hope Stones starts instead of Jags and Besic starts instead of Barry.
I think a lot of that is purely down to what I said earlier. These guys are playing that way from the time they're 7 or 8. Giving short passes and intelligent movement off the ball to make those passes easier are nutured in most latin countries and to a lesser extent countries like Holland, Germany and former Yugoslavian states. Point in case is how comfortable Besic was receiving the ball in tight spaces.
Most English kids are/were encouraged to treat the ball like a hot potato.

As far as implementing Roberto's style 100%, I'd say your last statement is right on the money.
