Besic with a class bit of play, just as the announcer introduces him, fantastic.

On the whole I was quietly pleased today. We got a really good workout against a quality side. Had some very promising performances and there's obviously much more to come.

Leon Osman - for ten years he's been a classy, honest and loyal servant to he club and very much deserved this testimonial. Nice one lid. Leon Leon Leon!!!

Played most of the second half with a proper 3 in attack, wonder if roberto plans to use that often next year, would be lethal with Rom, Kev and someone like Atsu.

Ross looked nice and trim, seemed sharp as well

If that game was in mid-September with our full 1st team against them in the Europa then things would look totally different.
Porto were the better team...so what? Friendlies mean zip...I even saw Brett Angel play well in a friendly once

..ok, so I made the last bit up:Blink:

we do have some former footballers on these boards...

I wonder who..

Oporto are consistantly playing in CL and frequently getting into QF. Quality side. Furthermore, possession football is second nature to Latin footballers in general. They grow up playing it. We've been playing it for 12 months. Stop fretting.

we didn't have howard, coleman, gibson, oviedo, garbutt, kone, lukaku or our two attacking players that we'll sign. people need to relax, our squad depth and quality is more than fine.

it's also pre-season, the key word is pre, ha. no idea what half on here are moaning about.

Paradoxically, it does appear that some people are happiest when they are miserable; it's a weird condition, but to each his own I guess.

another negative beaut on ignore. jeez, aging squad, what are you smoking?

What game where you watching and yes all those players I listed a part from Baines are 32 or over. Time catches up to everyone. Look at Stevie G but you're obviously someone who just ignores what you don't want to see so that's fine. Go ahead and live in your delusional little world.

If we had our first team playing we might have given them a game and I think that would have been better preparation than running around admiring how good Porto are.

Besic looks a 30m pound player and he's only 21.

Martinez authorised signing Barry, he's hardly finished. Baines & Jags are England first-team regulars (ok, not saying much...but they're not finished either).

Naismith is good enough.

Agree with you that Osman, Hibbo and Peanut are past their effective best. Alcarez is too cumbersome. Geads is a possible supersub but no first-teamer.

he's looked pretty good in pre-season i think. still can't decide between him or mcgeady to start vs leicester. maybe pienaar to start and mcgeady to rip the tired legs with the extra pace
