The result doesn't matter, the fact that we could barely string 3 passes together or get close to them does.

What this game highlighted was a real lack of depth in our squad.

Osman, Pienaar, Barry, Hibbert, Alcharaz and maybe even Baines and Jags look finished. McGeady is playing with no confidence and Naismith just isn't good enough.

The only positive is that Besic looks quality, I guatantee he starts instead of Barry, Ross looked sharp and let's be honest Mirallas and Rom will make a big difference.

Our first team is fine if we get Atsu but our squad is really poor. A lot of aging players.

another negative beaut on ignore. jeez, aging squad, what are you smoking?

It wasn't that bad.. we'll bring in 2-3 more players this window and we'll have a brilliant squad.

Honestly mate it's a friendly and it's no way to judge quality off at all. It really doesn't matter apart from players just getting used to being back and getting their fitness up.

they started off slowly and although they weren't brilliant, they didn't get fooled by any of the diving, some of it very obvious, bet your bottom dollar the prem refs will fall for it though, they were doing it all last season and are getting worse year by year

Tbh, after watching the refs in the World Cup, it made me feel better about the refs over here.

Martinez authorised signing Barry, he's hardly finished. Baines & Jags are England first-team regulars (ok, not saying much...but they're not finished either).

Naismith is good enough.

Agree with you that Osman, Hibbo and Peanut are past their effective best. Alcarez is too cumbersome. Geads is a possible supersub but no first-teamer.
