Everton v Espanyol

Just flicked through this thread to catch up. Rom injured? When will Everton ever learn? Get your players in (signings) before the season starts. That way you have a squad ready to cope with injuries to key men. Kone up front next week. Just do one!

I still think it will all be fine come September. They're going to get absolutely pumped by Tottenham, and at that point there will be no option but to start making moves in the transfer market.

Koeman seeing through the McCarthy delusion. Deulofeu looking sharp giving us another option upfront. Stekelenburg looking better than Howard. Defence looking better than it was under Martinez.

Martinez left the football equivalent of a car crash. A lop sided squad with no comprehension of the defensive aspects of the game. It will take time for him to make something great. He's got so much to fix bit by bit.

That whole statement is just wrong. McCarthy on his day is a top player, he just needs to be bloody up for it! Deulofeu is good one week, bad ten weeks. That's mostly BAD. Howard in his prime was a fantastic goalkeeper and as bad as he was, i was monstrously embarrassed by the Everton fans behaviour towards him in his final season for the club. Defence is looking better to be fair, but in stark contrast our attack is looking far worse... worse than our defence was bad last year one might argue!

I reckon Tottenham will beat us 3 nil.

We all know it's just preseason but nothing about the way we've played in any of the games so far has filled me with much optimism. I hope I'm devastatingly wrong but I'd be very concerned about us in the first few games of the season. I'm sure things will turn around but I'm just not impressed with our forward play at all at the moment, relying more on forcing the opposition into making dangerous mistakes rather than any genuine intelligence to open them up.

Hmmmmmmmmm.....................

You having a go at the match going fans mate ?

TBF there would be many fans at home watching it on a hot sunny day wondering why the stayed in I admire the fans who paid to watch that performance!

Normally I'm not one for bringing in a new player and immediately giving him the captaincy (Phil Neville, ffs). But in this case I'd agree. Our players have a terrible attitude, it's like the entire team looks like they'd rather be somewhere else.

Maybe Martinez's constant positivity had a weird counter-effect infesting all the players with a NEA lethargy, but still these are pros and they've been under a new boss for over a month now. It's a sorry state to start the season in.

Ashley plus 2-3 mid-level players with proven attitudes. Get those deals done quick. No use waiting on a 30m player holding up our transfer kitty if we're not his first choice and he's not even what we need.

Williams and an absolute monster in centre midfield required.

Del got the highest amount of assists we had last year, depsite being dropped for half the season. Crazy opinion.

Koeman needs time, your hysteria based on a few preseason games is premature. McCarthy is not a top player.
