Everton v Espanyol

I am going to the pub to drown my sorrows and have a fume to be rudely spoken to by a sensible person saying 'Get a grip lad its only a friendly'.

Now if next week is the same outcome then I will have reason to fume.

This is the biggest worry and what has plagued us pre-season. We don't look threatening any more, maybe the personnel isn't as good as we thought it was, Koeman hasn't been able to get any impetus into our attacking which is a worry.

Very true mate, if you take out the games against lower league opponents we have scored 2 goals in 4 games, one was a free kick and the other an own goal.

To be fair to Koeman he inherited a squad that was coming off a massively disappointing season, and you can tell the morale of the team is still not ideal especially with Rom being in such poor form. The season has not started quite YET, so I will lay off the panic button for now. We need to put in a much better showing once the season starts.

Thank god we don't have to watch any more pre-season games for a year! Are they anything more than excruciatingly dull to watch and completely useless as an indication of the upcoming season? Have we ever had a scintillating pre-season?

What is somewhere between terrifying, funny and annoying, is: a) the potential for Kone to be starting against Spurs, b) the seemingly perpetual pattern of when we improve one area (ie. defensive play this year) we suffer in the other (creativity) and c) lack of transfer movement. We're desperately in need of a goalkeeper, centre back, creative midfielder, left sided midfielder, and a couple of attacking players/ strikers.

Not panicking until the day after deadline day if we haven't addressed that. Right now though, certainly in the 'getting a little nervous' category. Huuuge week coming up I think!

Massive chance this summer to go into a good early run of fixtures with an absolute buzz around the club. Chance blown, sadly. Doesn't mean our whole season is cactus, but it will likely be looked back on as a missed opportunity.

He's had long enough to make big changes mate, and you know it. God knows what's going on behind the scenes but the signs are not positive at all.
