The only good thing about today was I saved myself a 200-mile trip and just paid 3.99.
I honestly fear for our status this season.
We desperately need 6 maybe 7 players, problem, is this. ask yourself if you were the quality
player, we need why would you sign for us, only a bucket load of cash would be the reason.
Bottom of the league next week, and a hell of a struggle to get off it.
The players with a few exceptions and leaving aside our youth player, the rest both individually and collectively
are not good enough.
Cash in on the overrated superstars and build for the future.
Having watched since just after the war, I can honestly this group of senior players except the 1952 side and the mid-nineties,and the early 2000 is the worst.
genuinely worried.
By the way, not RKs fault it is what it is

We are short by some distance, we let ourselves believe Martinez and his tactics was to blame for our poor league form, turns out we are actually that bad. I would expect a few signings to come in this week. We need them.

Just as it took Martinez a season to undo Moyes' good work, we can't expect Koeman to fix Martinez's mess in a few friendlies.

Should have been done and dusted weeks ago. Typical Everton. Just pay what's being asked and sort it. That's what would happen in any 'new era'.

Think Swansea fear a huge fans backlash if they let him go too easily, and this is them just trying to get Williams to hand in a transfer request, so they can say to the fans that they tried everything they could to convince him to stay.

I think this is the really difficult thing for many fellow blues to understand...we are actually not very good, and neither are our players. The last two seasons had flashes of fancy football, but that doesn't count for owt. The Prem's going through an interesting era now after the Leicester win, mid-level clubs jostling for position with the established top 6.

We were in that established top 6...looking very difficult to break back into that now. The answer is new players and decent coaching. So far we've signed two which don't convince me they're top 6 material, and Koeman hasn't shown much in these friendlies.

Paradoxically, after the massive hype of Mosh+Koeman and fans thinking we've rejoined the Big Time, we go into the new season the most pessimistic in over a decade.

I refuse to believe it is worse than the Walter Smith era!

I was not aware of that. Jesus, that doesn't fill me with confidence

Was never a Koeman-fan myself...getting Southampton top 7 in the last two seasons isn't all that considering Moyes did that with us over 10 years. Otherwise he's done nothing of note in a quality league. Koeman's record in the cups is also underwhelming (bar one Spanish Cup win 8 years ago).

Koeman will have been experimenting with tactics in the friendlies and our players will have been trying to make sure they don't pick up any injuries.

We'll see a different team on Saturday. I'm not worried at all, pre season is more about instilling new tactical setups and getting the players familiar with it. When a new manager comes in it's even more so about the players learning the new system he wants you to play.
