I vaguely remember noticing towards the end of the fever dream that was this match, that Bešić appeared to be at right back with Coleman further forward on the wing. The formation appeared a bit messy, but did anyone else notice this?

One of my favourite Everton games in recent times
What a way to lose
to be so brilliant and so terrible in one game
love it
confident we'll sort out the defence and then start hurting everyone

Too much fume when we lose. If we played like Sours did today or like Utd did at MKII Dons I could understand it, but we are very, very good offensively and it's so much better to watch than some of the dross I've endured since the days of Gordon Lee.

It does not matter how good you are offensively if the other team scores more than you.

The first goal he tried to spread himself and it was smashed between his legs.
The second goal went under his body at point blank range.
It might be harsh but a 'keeper shouldn't really be beaten at his near post for the third.
The fourth took a deflection and was right in the corner.
Ramires toe-poked the fifth quite early when Howard might have expected him to side foot it or to come in closer.
I would have expected Costa to hit it under Tim's right hand rather than go back across goal for the sixth.

I never see him coming off his line and going for the ball at the forwards feet, I have pointed this out before. Look back at the likes of Big Nev or even Nigel. He spread himself inviting the forward to hit it, when you spread yourself like that one cannot dive either way or jump up.

Anyone with half a brain would understand that his original game plan flies out the window when we go 2-0 within 3 minutes, we had no other option but to go all out.
2-1 at half time. So that means gung ho does it. Martinez needs to try a different approach to going behind than to throw the kitchen sink at the oppo. Any idiot could see Chelsea were set up for counter attack ,so why play into their hands

After even more time to think about the result, I can't help but feel Mourinho has played a blinder really. He would of been more than aware of how we had shipped goals late into games v Leicester and Arsenal.

They came out firing on all cylinders intentionally, they then sat back intentionally, allowing us to exert effort to get back into the game.

They knew after an hour our fitness levels would begin to to let us down again and the errors would become more profound.
not sure the chosen one is that clever

Just watched the match. I mean.....wow. That entire back unit was just shambolic. A lot of times they were playing for the offside trap that the other player was onside for. I mean.......wow. Honestly, thought Baines and Distin werent awful but Howard and Jagielka were just woeful.

*edit* That being said Costa should have gone for diving right before their 5th goal. Just a complete flop.

I think that for the opening goal Distin was expecting Howard to come out and that's why he went towards the line rather than the man.

I watched the own goal again and Tim was perfectly placed with his foot next to the post until the very last minute, where he dived to anticipate the cross.

The defence left him badly exposed and I don't think he could have done too many things differently though.
