That was a disappointing result, we were also lucky. Howard should have been sent off twice.

Defensively we look awful, Jags seems to have lost his confidence since going to the World Cup. We need Stones in the next game.

On the plus side, Eto looked class when he came on and Lukaku got an extra 90 mins and Neismith gave 3 in 3

Could be a long season

Team for West Brom?

Howard

Coleman Stones Distin Baines

McCarthy Gibson

McGeady Naismith Mirallas

Lukaku

Even if Pienaar is fit again I reckon McGeady deserves a run in the team. He's beginning to form a bit of an understanding with the other forward players, particularly Naismith, and his build up play has often been excellent. Gibson could do with a runout and will be a better option than Gaz Baz going forward. Stones in for a clearly out-of-form Jags.

Subs: Robles, Jagielka, Barry, Besic, Atsu, Osman, Eto'o

When you look at this matchday squad it's still missing the likes of Barkley, Pienaar, Alcaraz, Hibbert, Oviedo, Kone, Garbutt, Browning & McAleny (not even counting Galloway and some of the other young lids on the fringes). Another CB signing before the window closes and we have a bloody decent squad really.

Good team but who is captain there mate?

My worry is that he'll always play Jags or Osman as they are captain and vice captain.

Howard for captain, imo. I do know what you mean though, we had this issue with Phil Neville - constantly started solely by virtue of the fact that he was club captain. Did my head in.

I don't know if I'd play Gibson there tbf. Pienaar offers us so much more then link up play with baines but also miralles on the left looks amazing so far.

Gibson is apparently now ready (as of September) to be in the team according to Martinez.

He said that last week when talking about the Barkley injury.

Personally we should shake things up.

Gibbo in.
Stones in.

Jagielka dropped.

In all honesty though, without trying to insult our team or even Martinez himself, we can do with having a look at exactly how Chelsea played against us yesterday. By and large they got back in numbers and defended as a team and were very clever in how they broke off and put us under pressure every time they went forward. They took advantage and were clinical, without having to go gung-ho.
