Also, looking at the goals again, Chelseas second was offside, their third due to the freakiest deflection ever and the 6th due to Besic making a fool out of himself trying to impress. Chelsea were the better team on the day and deserved their win but a 3-3 or at most 3-4 would have been the fair result.

Had my doubts about Costa, maybe being a one season wonder, but he is a superb slotter.

Bad bell of a football scout I would be ffs.

Chelsea will walk the league this year, they have an outstanding team, not a single weakness.

Costa is a hyper bellend, but hes a wonderful player and he has his snide level set to high every game, I would give my FHL finger to have him at Everton.

What happened to your Besic avatar ?????? o_O

We played this season's future champions, top scorer and player of the year and got beat. All things considered, including some mental refereeing, I think this was freak result that we will soon get over - just like last years Anfield Derby.

I think we have also witnessed a subtle shift in tactics from Martinez which may have resulted in us shipping the goals we have. I think we have gone much more attacking this season. It has been noticable that the wide midfielders have spent far less time tracking back this season leaving the defence (especially Coleman) exposed. I think this can only be a deliberate tactical ploy in an effort to cause the opposition problems rather than lapses from the players concerned.

I'm not happy with getting beat but I think we will sort this in no time and take great heart from going toe to toe with Chelsea yesterday for long periods of the game.

No doubt by the end of September we'll be discussing how ace all things are in the Everton garden as we sit pretty in 4th/5th, only 4-5 pts off 1st. With our beautiful attack led by the world renowned talents that are Lukaku and THE Samuel Eto'o. Distin was sound yesterday, Jagielka will get his act together and if not Stones will come in he's another great player. If Barry doesn't get his act together Besic/Gibson are waiting in the wings. Atsu/Pienaar/Oviedo three good players to come into the fold proper this season still as well. European away trips, night games aplenty at Goodison. Onwards Blues.

I've mildly calmed down.

Those early goals sent the game mental. If the second was correctly ruled offside, it probably wouldn't have been so nuts. We played a 4-2-4 from there, so the debacle that followed was to be expected I suppose.

I think we are considerably better with Stones at CB, and Jags' confidence is wiped so he probably has to be the one to make way. Would a last minute panic signing help things? Who knows.

I wonder about the morale of the team, and I also wonder how much Ross' injury would have played into that. It would have been a pretty big blow for the squad on the eve of the season, just as Bryan's injury started, perhaps coincidentally, a poor run of form last season.

I really think we will batter the first minnow we come up against (and I'm not including newly-promoted Leicester on opening day - that's extenuating circumstances). All of our attackers were stellar, but the fact that it was one of the most bats**t insane games I've ever seen meant they were on a hiding to nothing.

Still, koff Everton. But we will be okay in the long run.

Alright lads, been having a nice break and keeping quiet.
Today, feeling humiliated and embarrassed.

I want the old Jags back. He has not been at the pace since coming back from injury.

Early days, knee jerk, blah blah.

I am a fan with an opinion and what I have seen on the pitch is going backwards, not forwards.

Hope all my old mates on here are in good health, or same as last time at worst!

Was thinking Stones needs a run ahead of Jags, the boy is only getting better. Jags needs to find some form and could help Stones out in training.
My other concern is Distin can not go on forever and no ready made replacement from what can see. Some good defenders, but types who would work well with a Distin, not replace him.
Our defending is shocking.
