Agreed, I'd prefer bony hands down, possibly in a cash + bony deal for stones, which I think is inevitable. Still, would be a great 6m investment, even if he only does play cup games this season. I think the real focus should be on a world class defender. Horrible feeling jags isn't going to last the season.

Everton in not being able to wrap up a swift signing despite winning the lottery and being in the midst of a 'new era' shocker.

As far as I see it nothing really has changed apart from all the fans getting all horny dreaming of which world class players we could snare.

Let's have the board's actions do the talking. As of yet they ain't done a thing aside from sack a manager far too late and thus probably rob the club of a great chance to get to the FA Cup final and finish higher up the league. Who wants to be the first one to argue waiting to sack him prior to the final game was the right thing to do? He needed to go months before he did. Maybe we'd be sat here with some silverware now.

(Yes, I understand what The Esk has said with regards to investment and stadium plans and money promised for transfers, etc, and have no reason whatsoever to not believe him, but the fans need to see actions and things happening... come on Everton, get it sorted and let's have that feel-good factor back. I fully believe the club will make some great signings this pre-season, but the fans need to see things happening. Rumours on the internet will get us nowhere unless they are backed up by actually happening.)

Because we need to realise a big profit on Stones for FFP purposes, I don't think we'll be taking Bony as part of the deal at all.

I mean, we may end up signing him for all I know, but I highly doubt it'd be part of the Stones deal

The only reason to get a big striker up front is if Rom leaves IMO, even then id go Benteke over Bony.

If Rom stays we need a nippy little James Vardy type to offer varience and a different dimension, someone like Hernadez, Inechaeo etc.

Word.

Ffp is puss mate, we will get a slap on the wrist

I think every fan at this stage of the summer probably feels their club is not doing enough, and not early enough.

Janssen to Spurs has moved on today it seems after at least a month of media reporting. I'm sure Man City fans are probably questioning why can't they just give us £50m for Stones right now and have done with it.

As well of the whole negotiation/administration side of a deal going through, Koeman only began work at Finch Farm this week. He made it clear in his presser that he would evaluate the squad and the academy. To an extent that's as much diplomatic language as anything else as it isn't all that difficult to work through the players we have and assess what's needed. But you can't exactly sign 3 or 4 players a few days into the job - even if the groundwork could be done in that time - it's tantamount to saying your some of your squad isn't good enough without even meeting them. Stekelenburg was signed as Koeman had already indicated we were going to have 3 senior keepers and that as was straightforward a signing you can get in this day and age.

Not saying I wouldn't like to see confirmations of players being signed "now" but work is ongoing. Koeman is not stupid - he more than anyone else knows what's needed and it seems certain that he was given concrete assurances on the budget available - he is not going to under-utilise the resources at his disposal and weaken his own hand in the process. It is easy to sign players - signing those we have identified as priority targets - much like the appointment of Koeman himself - is more difficult and where he will justify a lot of his reputed salary if he gets it right. We are about where I thought we would be for signings now.

He is here to build on the fine reputation he earned for himself at St.Mary's - not diminish it. A little patience, please.
