Everton: title contenders

Read the thread title and thought i'd accidentally wandered onto RAWK. Title contenders? How a word with yourself. Just like Liverpool, we are nowhere near title contenders. Top 3 will be City, Chelsea + Arsenal (unless they get unlucky with injuries). The rest are a distance behind.

We might be having a superb season and playing some great football but Lukaku, Barry and Deulofeu are not Everton players, they are on loan. Take them out of our season so far and where would we be? Mid table is my guess. Barry is the only player out of those we might sign and he's 32.

Looking at our squad, all the below have to be replaced too,

Distin - 35
Piennar - 31
Osman - 32
Jagielka - 32
Howard - 34

McCarthy was immense last night, Barkley is a serious talent and hopefully a lot to come from Stones.

But this football club and Martinez in particular are going to have to find 4/5 key players in the next year or two with no money (or sell Barkley).

Jaglieka was only 31 in august mate so not 32
Howards 34 but as a keeper, so got at least 3-4 years left in him most likely, plus we brought robles in last summer so covered their already
Osman has already lost his starting place for good now, he's basically a 20 min sub now
Distin will need replacing but i reckon thats what alcarez is here for when fit, plus got stones whose only young and looks a natural talent their to take over long term
Pinnear will need to be replaced soonish, but even at 31 his games not about pace never has been really, so likely will still have another good 2 years left as a starter/squad player

Barry although a loan, will become a everton player next year, delefou saying hes been a main reason for our position is a huge load of bollocks, hes been a factor in 2/3 games at most, with only the stoke game being decisively a factor in the result

Lukaku is a fair shout, hes been massive, and thats where the challenge really comes from with roberto having to replace/find a way to obtain him

We are all Bryan Oviedo now.

It would be a fantastic achievement for a club like Moyes's Man Utd to finish top 10 this season. Fantastic.

before the season id have said maybe challenging for a europe spot on the outisde bet, now im thinking top 4 is a genuine shout, hopefully in march ill be thinking the same or hiher, time will tell, gonna be a enjoyable ride this year anyways
