Paddy Power title betting:

13/8 City
12/5 Arsenal
100/30 Chelsea
10/1 Liverpool
20/1 United
70/1 Spurs
100/1 Everton

I know we wont win it mate, im not deluded, but tell ya what we have more chance than either the rs or utd or spurs of doing it this year of that i have no doubt whatsoever

For me its gonna be Arsenal all the way this year though, theyve shown a ability to bounce back from bad results now twice which previous wenger teams of recent years havnt shown

Yes and it's making me nervous at being optimistic. I'm genetically predisposed to thinking the worst, as an evertonian!

Same mate, tell you what though, just looked at the fact of the games vs the other teams in the mix, we've played Liverpool of the park, beat utd at their ground, beat chelsea deservedly, lost to a city who wont drop many points at home all year, and drew against a spurs side who where playing away from home where they've actually been way better than at their ground this year, if we get anything out the arsenal game then the optimism turns into more a belief, its already close to being the way i felt back in the 80's, i genuinely feel we can get a result in any game now, and i dont mean a park the bus play for a draw result, i mean go their play our game and deservedly get points playing attractive footy

Top three are in a league of their own, yeah.

I still think United will strengthen though and get closer than this. They have to get CL football and they'll spend a lot in January to secure it. I also think that United were and are turning a corner of sorts. They slipped up last night because our manager is much smarter than Moyes and was able to exploit their weakness in midfield to the maximum.

A top four finish has been viable for us for a few seasons now due to the squad quality - we were held back by a horribly negative, tactically moronic manager who bottled it every time a game had an ounce of meaning to it.

Now that the ginger monkey is off our backs, it really is a brave new world here. I don't think we're title challengers really, but I do believe we are top four challengers.

I'm glad to now be supporting a side where the manager doesn't make me want to vomit. I'm loving Everton right now, absolutely fantastic. I know there'll be bad times ahead too, but at least we'll approach them with a manager whose first instinct is to get the best from his players and let them have a go, rather than dither like a dour ginger bar steward.

Quality

not interested in this becoming an anti-board or woe-is-us-we-has-no-monies thread, there's enough of that elsewhere.

All I'm saying is, we've already got the players capable of beating teams. A couple of wise lowkey(ish) moves in January, and a continuation of this positive attitude...and who knows?

It's about time modern football was dealt a lesson that money doesn't always buy titles...Everton are perfectly placed to teach that lesson.

And if we fail, none of us will mind as we know we went for it, and will go for it again next season.

COYB!!

You know, I think that sentence has given me a semi (y)

To be fair right now if Roberto told me Everton could win the World Cup and the Grand National I'd be inclined to beleive him......sexy Catalan B'stard.

Whilst I was in a daze today and daydreaming of stuffing Arsenal 5-0 on Sunday and winning the title I was thinking it would be a good quiz question in years to come if that happened. "What manager won the fa cup, got relegated yet won the premier league in the space of 12 months". Simple things amuse my simple mind so thought I would share that chestnut with you all.

Nonsense. The difference between a title winning Man Utd side (aside from a bit part player in Paul Scholes) and now is:

* A Moyes signing.
* Moyes appointed backroom staff.
* Moyes.

That's it.

Martinez has brought in Lukaku, Barry, McCarthy and transformed the spine of our side and proven himself already to be tactically light years ahead of Moyes.

As I've said many, many times, Moyes is a phenomenal director of football, but an atrocious manager, and it's being played out right now.

Not the biggest Moyes Fan but ten years of moderate success on a miniscule budget is a bit more of a cv than RM 3 months blissful extravaganza (long may it continue). Let's be real it is fantastic but time will reveal all !!!!!!!!

Don't think we are title contenders yet. We are playing very well at the moment, and we'll have to see how we perform against Arsenal first.

Though if Lukaku picks up an injury I don't really like the idea of playing out of form Jela up front.
Suppose we could just stick Oviedo up front and let him bag a few hattricks.
