Everton sack Andy Spence

Call me thick here but doesn't that mean I have some sort of aggressive sexist view about not liking women's footy?

Mate there is no quality in it what so ever which is why no one watches it

Well to be honest mate, this does come across a bit like that;

Whos arsed abar woman's football though

I’m not arguing about the quality mate, what else can compare to a boss PL game? Not much.

Perhaps the best way to view it would be to see it as it’s own sport rather than comparing it it the men’s game?

Good post...you're spot on about womens football,it will continue to grow . I think you should get to know cricket, though;), one of the most watchable games can be international test cricket, another game, coincidentally, which women play ,and womens cricket is getting a lot more exposure now. It is also significant that Sky and the BBC are using a lot more women as pundits and reporters now, and Skys Sunday Supplement more often than not has a woman on the panel. To be honest, its sport, so in my mind, its OK!

Ha cheers, I am not too concerned if it grows or not really, it's a niche sport and I think its fine being there. It's a real sport played by real people and there are certainly some seriously talented women players out there, it means something to them when they have success or they get to play in front of a big crowd and I love stuff like that. It's what sport should be.

I do tend to fight a lot for women's football, probably because it would be one of my "Mastermind subjects" along with wrestling (another one that draws similar comments funnily enough...)

I have tried a bit of cricket, it just doesn't do it for me but yeah I don't know the nuances of it, I can see the talent and the appeal of it though. Same with darts, I hate darts with a passion, I get the talent involved though and see the appeal to others.

To be fair to evertonarntwe I don't think he is being sexist or anything as some have kind of said, I just think he is being lazy in dismissing something he hasn't really watched.

The pundits thing makes me laugh though, some people get really angry that a woman (many of which have a vast amount of experience) can pass comment on a football game or whatever, like it's rocket science and the male pundits are brilliantly insightful. Those are the people who concern me!

You are not saying you dislike it though are you? You are saying its crap. That's the difference. If its not for you its not for you, that's perfectly fine and normal, to dismiss it as all being crap though without actually watching it to any level of having a knowledge of the sport is just lazy.

To use your food analogy here you are basically saying you think roast dinners are horrible because you ate a sprout once.

I get what your saying, ie ive never watched cricket and don't like it but I wouldn't call it crap because I've never watched it

but as I have said I have flicked on to a few games before of the womens football and having watched it I thought it was crap, that's the difference, I have watched it to have an opinion on it

and not at all, what I'm saying is I think tomato's are disgusting and the very thought of them makes me bork, but most people like tomato's so does that mean I can't think theyre disgusting because other people like them?

The recent WC was great fun. The standard isn't that bad. GK seem to be much weaker but thay brings more goals.

There are good goalies out there, but again the drop off in talent is quite large. Goalie is a niche position so obviously a girl getting into football wont naturally want to be a goalkeeper so there is a smaller pool of talent out there.

Also as daft as it sounds the goal dimensions are just the same as the men's ones yet the women are obviously smaller in many instances. If the men's game had a bunch of 5 foot 7 goalkeepers playing that would probably result in more goals and mistakes too.

Yeah but that just means the fleeting moments where you watched a woman's game didn't draw you in. And why would it? A bunch of players you don't know where you have zero investment in either side. That's not going to draw many people in is it? You do seem to be basing your opinion of an entire sport on a bunch of random viewings. Can that really give you an solid opinion on the entire sport or could it just be a case that the bits you watched where a bit crap? By the sounds if it you have not seen any top end women's football and it would be like judging the premier league from watching a league two game.

The tomato thing... hmm not really. It would be like saying you don't like tomato's so pizzas are disgusting. But pizzas come in many shapes and sizes (well mainly round but you know...) and you would be totally dismissing the benefits of a good pizza purely because you don't like tomato's without ever sampling a BBQ sauce based pizza or something.

I'm starving now...

weird that me saying I don't like birds footy has come to us talking about not like tomatos etc hahahaha

I do like pizzas actually, should have really been fresh tomatos make me bork, don't mind tomato puree or ketchup to be fair

pizza for dinner?

Womens football isnt a threat to your testicles...

Anyway, shame about Andy Spence but the league table/Yeovil result suggests change was needed.

Shame, but shows we are willing to make changes when needed now and not just hoping for the best - positive action is the way forward for our new found club optimism - well, optimism for most I think. I have the doom-mongers on ignore and that makes got a lot more cheery place to visit.

" Birds footy " that says it all, you say people are too sensitive for 2018 but you view women as if its the 1970's with your outdated views.

oh bore off lad

No.Moomin is right. I'm a little bit sorry for you...you expressed an opinion and have got pelters for it. I think the main problem is your use of the word 'crap' as describing ALL womens football. For example if you said 'Star Wars' is crap, that does not mean that you think all movies are crap. Everton v arsenal under Sam could be described as crap, but that does not mean all football is crap.In fact it certainly isn't. So if you once watched a womens football match and thought it was crap, why should that mean all womens football is crap? You say you have never watched cricket but don't like it. How do you know you don't like it if you haven't seen it. I think your original comment was just really telling us how macho you think you are. As Moomin said, theres no need for that ,and hasn't been a need since the 1970s. But nice talking to you anyway..its passed I nice hour or so!
