No we don't you're right . The best English young players usually cost three times what they should and turn out to be average.

So the new transfer strategy should be ‘dont Buy English’ as they usually turn out to be average. Brilliant. Here’s a thing. ANY decent money transfer can turn out to be average, regardless of nationality. It’s about getting the scouting and recruitment right and then managing them. Were you saying this when we got Pickford? English players do cost more but it’s all relative, as if they’re a success their worth grows more too. Just like any transfer.

We've got plenty of good young players. One or two top drawer players in their prime is what we need.

If we think of the youngsters who stand a decent chance of making the first team next year, you're probably looking at Pickford, Holgate, Davies, Lookman, DCL. Then you'll have guys like Kenny, Baningme, Vlasic and possibly Dowell et al challenging for spots as well. That's a good amount of young talent imo, and I'm not sure we're suffering for a lack of young players that aren't proven at the top level.

I've no idea about this lad, but his stats are no better than Dowell's, so I do wonder if another youngster is what we really need, especially for the price being quoted.

I was gonna post "This ^^", but then I watched his vid. Still, we do have plenty of young players in similar positions, so I do think we need to look for more 'proven' players, especially at those prices. Still, he looks very good in that 'Yellow' vid.

Buy a player and if he’s a success his value will increase. If not a success, his value will decrease. You mention players like Ibe and Keane, players that are not worth the money. It’s not because they are English it’s because the buying clubs have been rash and haven’t scouted them enough. It’s about getting it right. It’s pretty simplistic to just say that you don’t want English players because you overpay and they turn out average. We shouldnt buy any Icelandic players either then. Or Welsh (Williams) Or French (Schneiderlin) or Dutch (Davey an Cuco ). We should just buy Turks, Irish and Senegalese.

I'm not opposed to signing ANY English players I just don't think we should be set up primarily targeting English players. You get so much more value abroad. I wouldn't have bought bolasie for 10m never mind 27. I think Germany and Spain produce a lot of young talent and they are better value IMO

We should buy good players, which eliminates most English players...

But seriously, English and home grown players will always have a bit of a premium. That isn't an excuse for being stupid.

This can be true however we have done very well over the years by selling English players for far too much money, Barkley being a good recent example, so its not a bad thing, we just have to make sure when we do buy English we get the right player, besides we have over paid for some right duds who havent been English.
