We have a DoF?isn't that why we have a dof? to make signings for the long term regardless of current manager?

One of my sources in Bristol is aware of some scouting activity on the radar, but would be surprised if he was sold this window. I think this could be a great deal for the summer if they don't get promoted, provided the lad actually wants to leave for reasons already covered by @roydo .
Oh he won't Roydo, but by all accounts he is a left-back by trade and on the three occasions I've watched City play (two in the cup, one in the Champ) he's moved back to LB in the last half-an-hour or so.
So he can definitely play there and would probably be an ideal replacement for Baines long term.
The one reason I'd be confident @roydo is that, once this semi-final is out of the way, if they're out then I think - if he wanted to leave - then a good bid would do the job.
There were some rumours when Walsh went that we were using Walsh as the makeweight for some future business, so who knows.
I have two relatives who work for City, their ambition this season is very evident. I'd be surprised if this happened at this time, it's not like they need the money having a richer owner than us.If you have a source down here, then I would agree with their assessment. The Walsh deal confirmed that to me.
There are circles within circles in the admittedly footballing back water that Bristol is, but a few google searches might show a link or two that might sustain my admittedly personal opinion. As ever, just saying like.
Think the Walsh rumour was started by me!
And a good bid isnt £7m, if true, is it? @ZiderEyed , (a Bristol City fan with the same credentials as a Blue born behind Goodison), fancied £30m for their left side. Bit toppish, granted, but they dont need to sell. Even a little bit.

if the player agitated for a move.
Swerve, literally nothing good has ever come from Bristol.
Indeed, although they do have a young left back called Lloyd Kelly who they see as his replacement, so preparations to replace are already in progress.Quite. You will also know the link between player and managers family as well then. And the lads background.
