Everton keen on Bristol City left back

They've had a pretty big dip in form.

I'd think he'd play against Man City regardless. Pay them the money, send them Garbutt or Galloway on loan, call it a day.

Honestly, they are still going to have an uphill battle for promotion and this kid is NEVER going to have a better situation. Automatic starter with a long leash, big paycheck, etc.

Thats the thing, he is currently playing on front of another left back, Magnusson. Not really as a winger, more a Peanuts type left sided player.

I would like the pair of them personally, but I have to say, I would be staggered if City sold either this season. They backed their manager after 10 defeats in a row last season, so to rip his team up now when they have a semi final on Tuesday, and a real chance of at least a play off spot, for relative peanuts, seems unlikely to me.
Yes I think that’s bang in ... file under “nice but not till summer “

Kind of reminds me of when Jermaine Beckford came to us - score a winning FA Cup goal against the Mancs, then join Everton.

Hope this one works out better than Beckford.

In all seriousness, I've seen a couple of Bristol's league games this year and Bryan does look a class above. Hope we get him, and if indeed it is for 7m for a 24-year old, it seems a no-brainer to me.

Benitez and Fat Sam will likely not be the managers of Newcastle and Everton next season. Maybe he’ll choose to wait for more stability? In sayin that, could he turn down a Premier League team? One bad injury could see his career crumble.
isn't that why we have a dof? to make signings for the long term regardless of current manager?

It wont be down to the money either would pay, well, not totally anyrate. The lad is a very intelligent bloke, has a very strong bond with the manager down to family stuff, so will go, if he goes, to the club/manager/location that suits him/his family.

Would he be interested in our managers job mate? Please?

One of my sources in Bristol is aware of some scouting activity on the radar, but would be surprised if he was sold this window. I think this could be a great deal for the summer if they don't get promoted, provided the lad actually wants to leave for reasons already covered by @roydo .

Watch him on Tuesday against Man City. I bet you an Everton Mint he doesnt play actual left back.

Oh he won't Roydo, but by all accounts he is a left-back by trade and on the three occasions I've watched City play (two in the cup, one in the Champ) he's moved back to LB in the last half-an-hour or so.

So he can definitely play there and would probably be an ideal replacement for Baines long term.
