From the SMB board:

What Evertons donation has also done has given this even more publicity than it already had. It was amazing that SAFC had sorted the mascot situation and this was broadcast around the world, especially with Sky actually telling people what was happening and the supporters who got behind this on the night. But such an amazing gesture is being reported on more than the game itself by news agencies in the US, all over Europe and the rest of the world. Not only will it bring in more donations but it also raises the awareness of SAFC but even more so, Everton. I am sure that more SAFC players and staff have donated but not made it public. I know its been said already but really @Speedy1976 you are fracking amazing - i doubt you'll have to buy a matchday pint again.

I'm still trying to take in what a gesture it was - and how much it means to the people up there. Well done Everton, well done the campaigners, and Sky, and well done all the Blues who have helped!

As well as the donation, Everton has invited Bradley and his family as their guests to the return fixture.

The club declined to comment further.

The last two lines of copy from BBC North East report.

Just me that love that last line? Like, just done it, for the lad, not us, PR, whatever.

Sounds strange to say but the right move by the club is that. Let the press focus on the lad and keep that as the story as it will just aid the fundraising even more will the publicity.

In these days of cynicism though, that thing the club did blew me away, utterly proud I was born a blue, and as someone with loads of ties up Sunderland way, this won't ever be forgotten by them. The lads uncle seems to have been the one driving it on the Sunderland boards and never letting up for a minute, don't think the little fella could have wished for a better man than him in his life.

Get well soon lad and hope he's able to get the return game at the old lady as I know goodison will make every last one of us proud that day.

You hit the nail right on the head. It's EXACTLY how it should be: it's not about Everton Football Club, it's about that young lad and his family, and their campaign to raise funds.

There's nothing else to be said. The kid's health is more important than any football club. Very very classy tho.

Just completely off-topic, but do ITV always subtitle their interviews or is it just for Northern accents? lol

Lovely to hear from her though, I can't imagine how they felt last night.
Not a clue what she was saying without the subtitles. They were a blessing tbh. :coffee:

Sounded like a high pitched @Allezfan

All the more credit to them considering the poor Sterling - Krone exchange rate at the moment ;)

Still proud as hell of our club today for this amazing gesture.....

One thing about this I was thinking about today.....was, the medical profession in America (and elsewhere too probably) should be ashamed of themselves.....I read there that the £700,000 only covers the cost of the anti-body of his treatment, nothing else......how can the treatment (for something that mostly effects kids of 5 years and younger cost this amount of money????!!!!!!!......it's just sounds obscene to me that certain people are grossly profiting from such horrible misfortune of others....
