Reading this, I have just contacted the Echo saying I've just bought my last one.
The following reply came within 5 mins so I'm guessing I'm not the first to have done so.

Hello Tony, sorry to hear you say that. We feel we give Everton lots of coverage and the £200 donation story was heavily covered and praised by us online and through social media.

In terms of being in the paper, my guess is we would only have found out about it late on when there was limited space available, whereas the Anfield coverage you highlight was a big event known about well in advance.
All the best,
Neil

Late edition could have easily covered it, I haven't seen them follow up on it either, it's a joke.

Breaking a bone in germany would be covered by holiday insurance ... And a few thousand is pretty fair if he didn't decide to take out that insurance... This is a boy who is born with something or if not born with it he developed it pretty soon after birth.... These companies make billions from medicine ... Billions! Remember the guy who bought the pharmaceutical company then raised all the cancer treating tablets by something insane , like 1000% or something like that... They are some of the most evil , opportunistic and in humane people ever to walk the earth... I'm not talking doctors , nurses etc. I am talking about the companies

A different pharma company did something similar with epipens recently. Bought the rights, jacked up the price, now a bunch of poor people with bee sting allergies are at risk of being killed by a common insect.

I understand completely mate, I'm in no way defending the American health system. It's jacked beyond belief. I'm just trying to offer some insight into how it works.

No Blue should bother with that rag. If they think they can get by with alienating half the city then let's see what happens if we all stop buying it.

I personally haven't bought the Echo in a decade.

Most blues have grudgingly accepted the persistent bias of the rag (or, like me, not bought one for many years), but this latest episode is inexcusable. If the EFC donation had been given a front page splash (like the, admittedly, MUCH more important LFC new stand) who knows how much more money would have been raised for the lad?

I would love blues websites, forums and fan groups to organise a boycott of the Red Echo and see it finally go down the tubes where it belongs.

To be fair, there is also a huge difference in exploiting patent law to massively increase the pure profit on life-saving medication and ameliorating the costs of developing a brand new procedure.

The HIV treatment case and the Epi-pen situation are a bit different because the price increase could not be tied to any actual production cost increase, but purely the market preying upon the weak for short-term and short sighted gain (short sighted indeed, what's Shkreli up to now?).

I agree that the American health system is thoroughly screwed up, but the actual cost of cutting-edge procedures is legitimate - it should just be subsidized by the collective (which it is, to an extent through insurance companies, but they are in the business of profit, not health). Medical costs have been increasing largely due to insurance companies and a feedback loop with the medical industry (private hospitals are bizarre), so I'm sure there is some padding in the cost to the patient, but R&D is expensive.

There should be some way to get money to help people like this... The government should say " if you need treatment but the NHS cannot offer it" then the government will foot the bill to get treatment elsewhere. They could even do it through the national lottery grants ... They spend money on benefits .... Many of who don't deserve it , they build buildings that don't need to be built, they look after refugees ( which I'm not against) but why are they looking after them? Because if they go home they face death? Well this boy is at home and is facing death so why not help him too? Hate the way things like this are allowed to continue ... And this is in Britain...imagine what it's like in poorer countries...

Earlier today on the Sunderland forum a user called Guinness Guzzler posted this:

They really do come across as decent folk, and hopefully they will kick the RS to pieces for us at some point. That would be all the thanks I would ever ask for.

someone who has an account drop them a link to EITC, I can't register with my emails

EITC generally have the pulse of what we're doing and do some fantastic work

Anyone know whether the family is in the USA now yet? I think their total raised so far is over 900k
Not until new year. Bradley was taken back into hospital midweek and is being kept in for a few days.

His mam posted this today...
"We were allowed out of hospital for a little bit today so we popped down for lunch. Bradley is feeling pretty ok but we not allowed home till at least Tuesday. Sometimes it can feel like you in prison when we in hospital but Bradley deals with it well as usual. We have scans soon to see if the chemo has worked and if it has he will be starting another round. The more cancer that is gone in this country the cheaper it will be over the states.
How beautiful is my super brave boys smile and thanks to all of you who have helped raised the funds we hopefully will get to see this smile till he grows old ❤️❤️❤️"

Keep up to date here...
