Oh and this was also posted by a guy who I understand is his uncle

"I'm sure @Speedy1976 said the fund was for the treatment only and the family would still need to pay for flights and digs, so hopefully that is now sorted. They will also need time off work I would imagine, the less stress the better as they're dealing with enough.
Speedy 1976 - That's pretty much it. Whilst out there living costs are also incurred.
Hotels, food, etc. He will be in and out of hospital there so he can't be expected to sit in a hotel room all day. So days out, little treats, everything adds up. So it's vital we keep going. The work is far from done."

So hopefully people will continue donating even though the charity has reached its initial target.

Exactly! The family deserve resbite & if the fund stretches to the kid seeing some Dolphins & Disney etc.., all the better.

I'm pretty sure the total here has gone up by about £30k since around the end of the game. Phenomenal donating, from all over the country too (and a huge amount of Evertonians I noticed).
I glanced at the donation page just after Everton announced the £200k - it was on £471k. Since then it has jumped to £527K... that's about £55k in less than 20 hours. Their fans on their forum have noticed how many normal Evertonians have donated, and are speaking very highly of us indeed.

Quite right too - you would need a heart of stone not to make a donation after the match. I got a lump in my throat when OUR club made that announcement and I noticed loads of blues on the donation page. Only what you would expect from the BEST club and supporters in the land!

The fund stood at 500 grand. Your club's magnificent gesture has hit the 700g target. As a Sunderland fan, I've never understood the concept of supporting a second team.

Over the last twenty four hours I've been reeducated. Truly truly humbling. Mind if I stick around?
Couple of tips:

@davek is bonkers
@Bungle has questionable morals
@tommye has NO morals
@Baines' left foot will try to brainwash you into crossfit
@Ashtonian will try to get you hooked on vaping
@Zatara is a great source of international football scouting knowledge
@Bruce Wayne and I are the token Tories

Oh, and don't remind us about Martinez. Some of us are still traumatised.

What a fantastic football club you are. Every time I post on this site it's normally in praise of you and your supporters - this is obviously not an exception today. Thank you so so much from helping one of our own.

I could see the away end rising to applaud at 5 minuets from my seat in the south stand - which in itself was an incredible gesture and worthy of praise - but then to come home to see what your football club has done. Unbelievable.

There was no need for you to have done that, none at all - amazing. Sunderland fans have long memories, we've got to our recent history is so bad, what you did yesterday will not be forgotten for a long long time. You've definitely gained some admirers in the NE today

Your more then welcome to the three points too, football pails into insignificance in matters such as this. Thank you again!
