It was a rhetorical question, I as you know their failings both in finding investment and building a suitable new stadium.

Oh, I know. I know that because there isn't a reasonable person out there who could possibly look at their record and give them the benefit of the doubt.

They're carpet baggers, pure and simple. They came in and took a cultural asset at rock bottom and will walk away with a vault stuffed full of money.

What I don't understand is how they've ballsed up literally everything they've ever touched. Even something as simple as the annex; still can't believe how badly they handled that. You'll struggle to hold up an example of any other business venture in the UK over the last half a century as ground-up incompetent as that.

You could forgive it if it were a one off, but everything they touch is a calamity. 14 years of it and he still has clappers aplenty.

Bah..

Except the money is not in their pockets yet - I know plenty of guys who massively over-value their businesses but somehow don't have the cash in their pockets.

A business is only worth what the buyer is prepared to offer, you can tell the world you're for sale or open to investment but if the price is unrealistic effectively you are not.

I appreciate you understand this point entirely, not teaching grandmother to suck eggs.

Yes, but I think we can take it as read that this industry which been through the world wide recession and out the other side bucking the trend and actually booming isn't going to implode anytime soon. It's a commercial driving force (at the top end...and in the elite European leagues at least). The largest shareholders of Everton are going to be able to bide their time until another stadium open goal presents itself, get it built largely with other people's cash and then leave. They just need to keep the PL status intact and be patient a bit longer. That investment is as safe as houses. They and their families will be onto a nice little earner, dont be in any doubt of that.

I doubt it is a booming industry for shareholders though, for players and for broadcasters yes, the rest (in purely financial terms)... no.

If I was a buyer I would question why despite the massive increases in revenue, Everton Football Club still has a negative balance sheet, and despite having potentially the greatest upside opportunity on the pitch in the Premiership offers one of the poorest commercial opportunities.

Deferred gratification. They may not get dividends now by God they'll get a nice little drink out of it when the whole kit and kaboodle is sold off!!

Yes, I would too. And I'd say they had a nerve asking whatever exorbitant amount they are looking for when they've done nothing practically to grow the business organically...which has probably happened no doubt.

Not a bad little return so far then, all things considered.

I mean lets take Bill alone, hes got some nice and free publicity for his "productions", wined and dined every Saturday for the last 14 years and free tickets to watch the best football team in the world, plus he gets a nice little 30m or so golden handshake when he "leaves".

Doesnt take a wage tho.

Will he take 30m though? When true blue holdings took control, did the Gregg's stump up the cash for Kenwright?? If so, Earl and Green would have had to pay Gregg off for Bills debt and his shares.

It could be like that episode in the Soprano's when Tony borrows that cash for the Terminator 2 fella. He loses and Tony takes him to the cleaners on his sports shop.
