Everton and Martinez are to blame should Lukaku leave

Well ultimately the polarizing statement is the obvious quick jibes that started before we ever kicked a ball under Martinez...and have continued for three years now.

Because he ultimately got Wigan dropped it has been the obvious stick to beat him with at the drop of a hat.

He was a polarizing hire simply because of that fact. He schooled Moyes in the Cup...which for me was the primary reason for his hire. For some I also think that made it polarizing.

Even in the first season when we were flying in early Spring...the moment we lost a bit of form the negativity was showing.

Sadly unless he does something remarkable (more than winning the Cup) he will never be fully backed.

He is very polarizing....unless he exceeds the expectations of the fans. Winning a pot doesn't even seem to be enough at this point.
I'll take your this, and raise you that even more polarising is the fluffity fluff he tells an intelligent fanbase. I feel that has polarised even more.
Whatever the reason, history tells us that pretty much every team that has a new wealthy ownership come to the club will sack the average Manager eventually.
Nice guy. I like him. But I fear his days are numbered unless he performs some miracle on the park next season up on par with his first season.

We were never close to the drop.

The facts are we have have improved if only slightly.

I despair at folks who only focus on the negative.
It felt that way. We were that poor at that time. Not a season to go saying we are now better than as it was utterly pathetic.
If you are despairing towards me, then you are mistaken my man.

Yes it looks like it, seems that minds have already been made up. I'm pragmatic myself, I don't rate him, never wanted him but I've been like that since Harvey to be honest, so it's nothing personal against Martinez. With all of them, I think you've got to give them a chance. if he wins the FA Cup, he gets another season for me. Unless there is possibility of hiring an exceptional talent. But that just wouldn't be Everton would it?

Who knows, maybe he'll come good. He's got my support at any rate. Wait to the summer, then we will all see what is really going on at the club.

I also agree that his positivity is a part of the polarization.

I prefer it over what we dealt with for the previous 11 years. For me I prefer a public positive message and setting expectaions high versus telling us we are punching above our weight plucky little Everton.

Many appear to disagree with this opinion.

And the positive is what? That at least we arent as rubbish as last season?

I mean yeah, I could take that as a positive, if last season wasnt utterly horrific, no signs of progress, just regression, 1 player in the entire squad has improved in the last 12 months, Rom, Stones looks like a lost sheep, Barks is Barks, Geri cant even play more than 20minutes without needing an oxygen mask, wheres the progress? Struggling to have something to cling on.

I mean great, we might win the FA Cup, my coach is booked and I will get my ticket on Monday, great day out, hopefully we win and I get another trip to dat der London, so he wins us the FA Cup, utterly marvelous, its a shiny, its all we want, but then what? We give him another season, for what? So we can lose home games, throw away leads and let no marks take us apart every other week?

Not for me, I want to compete, with our peers, Martinez has shown nothing in the last 18months to indicate hes the man to make us compete.

Positivity yes. Talking fluff no. He clearly is struggling to find a balance.

He'll get next season to show improvement. It's up to him. I'll be ecstatic if he proves us all wrong.

I want to compete

When was the last time, we truly did compete though. For the league title? Is that what you mean cause it's really the only thing that counts domestically besides the FA Cup.

Don't get me wrong I agree, we should be competing but quite simply we haven't had the kind of board that would enable that.. Their expectations have been completely at odds with the supporters. And that's why Martinez hasn't been sacked and won't be unless there is fundamental changes at the board level.

Ambition and expectation we have it, let's hope Moshiri does to.

We competed in Martinezs first Season.

Im not saying I want us to compete for the League, not yet, I just want us to compete for something more than 12th, cups are always a bonus, any Manager can win a cup, it doesnt take a good Manager to win a cup, the list of Cup winning Managers is quite the sight.

Basically I dont wanna have to press page 2 when I look at where we are in the League.

We might actually still win something Friend.

It is a positive.

But your opinion just continues support mine that regardless of the Cup...change is the only way forward.

As hard as it would be, sacking him even with a Cup win is the only way forward. He will never be supported by many of the fan base.

Thats cos many of the fan base wont accept 2nd rate clowns I suppose.

That top 4, top 5 trophy again. Haven't we argued that to death?

If you really want to compete, like you're feckin' serious about it. It's not just the manager or the players, it's the board as well. You need that winning mentality right through the club, even to the tea lady. We haven't had that in ages mate.

We have now, so why should we accept 2nd rate in the dugout?

We dont accept it on the pitch.

Thank you for your well thought out and measured response.

Oh the irony.

Wonder how many defeats it takes that fans start marching with Martinez out signs

It always begins way later than internet fumes
