Look the way I see it with Cahill is he was a very good player for us, and had massive impact.

This season that impact has gone.

When was the last time he made one of this runs for a corner?
When was the last time he ghosted into the box late to finish off a flick on?

Maybe Arteta coming back may well see this return, that be the case - has Pienaar failed in his job as creative midfielder? I would say maybe he has.

I'm just a little disillusioned with the way certain players are not standing up and getting counted, and I'm also disappointed with Moyes for constantly playing players out of position, even when we have players back and available.

Basically annoyed, but going to get drunk now.

Nothing much more we could have done today.

Birmingham had spot on tactics & played well + we didn't take our chances + they took theirs = were out the cup.

Lets save the doom and gloom for midweek.

Well we could have defended better, Moyes could have instructed Pienaar to look for the ball more, he could have told the defenders to stop hoofing it.

Fair play when he gets it right, kudos to him - but when he gets it wrong, the opposite has to be rightly expected. I bet you tore it up after the game finished, you bad ted.

I was surprisingly calm, although it pisses me off to go out the cup we have more to be positive about right now.

Was that convincing?

As I have noted elsewhere , the man we needed today was Seamus Coleman .
I guarantee that any side having joy against these will GO DOWN THE FUKN SIDES !!!
We spent the 1st half banging balls into 2 banks of four , to no avail , nach' . Then , when Pip does bomb on , Landon , goes INSIDE , thus allowing the full back to do exactly what he wanted to all along , TUCK THE FUK IN . Billy , incidentally , does the same on the left .Damn !!!
Second half , we copped on but by then we were 2 behind against a team with 10 men behind the ball .
Alas , Moyesey chose to play to the gallery and bring on - a patently out of nick , Mikel - . I get why , I just think Coleman WAS EXACTLY what was required .
But then , that's why he's the Manager , and I post on here , eh ???

Hi, I'm new. I thought we were very poor today. We hardly tested Hart at all. There were far too many long aimless balls from Neville and Heitinga in particular. There was no movement upfront and nobody getting into the box from midfield. Birmingham deserved the win.

I was hoping that Moyes would move Neville inside again for Distin, who failed to cut out both goals, and bring Coleman on at right back to offer us some width down the flank. Where did Donovan disappear to? He should have been pulling Ridgewell out of the central position to give the likes of Pienaar and Cahill an opportunity of getting in behind the full back.

Birmingham's strength is fending off aerial threats. As Alan Hansen pointed out on MOTD last week, Dann and Johnson will win balls in the air all day long. They sat on the edge of their own 18 yard box, so cutting out any space to run into behind them. We needed to open them up with cute passing eg. give and goes and flicks around the box. We also needed to shoot from distance more often. With so many bodies infront of Hart any sort of deflection could have produced a goal.

They say that the definition of madness is repeating the same action and expecting a different result. I was tearing my hair out in frustration that we should be so one dimensional and predictable going forward today.

Excellent summary mate, and welcome.

Is that what they say - Finally its all become clear to me - I'm cured (y)

*ps - good post - spot on

Honestly, if the team had just shown up to play in the first half as it did in the second half, the result would have been different. It's hard to spot an opponent 45 minutes and still win.

There has been a lot of people venting their frustration today, it seems most of believed it was just Brum we should kill them..............footie doesn't work that way. Brum came with a plan and it worked, they defend deep at times but no one in that team let his mate down, they worked like mad for each other............it wasn't pretty but it was pretty effective. Some have noticed that they were like us five years ago, IMO that is praise enough. Why people moan about it I don't know, they are entitled to play in that fashion and their 15 match unbeaten run testifies it is working.

As for ourselves, we didn't play that badly, Saha, Bily and TC just couldn't make any inroads, they were stifled very effectively. We will learn, its not the end of the world, our team is on a learning curve. Todays match showed that Mo and the Pieman were our only creative outlets, they'll be helped by Teta's return. Fear not boys all is not lost, take this defeat on the chin and give credit where it is due...............well in Brum and good luck after all copying is a form of flattery
