- Erm yeah, two teams get to the final every year. That's how football tournaments work.

- Fair point

- Right, does that not just mean that the teams who have been good enough to get into Europe are better in the league than the teams who couldn't?

Just sayin, if Fulham can get to the final one year and Newcastle can reach the quarters i don't see why we couldn't at least give it a go. We'd probably do pretty poorly away from home but i'd say our current team at Goodison would give most sides trouble.

This is the recent record:

2005/06 - 50 points - Knocked out of Europe early
2006/07 - 58 points - No Europe
2007/08 - 65 points - 10 Euro games
2008/09 - 63 points - 2 Euro games
2009/10 - 61 points - 8 Euro games
2010/11 - 54 points - No Europe
2011/12 - 56 points - No Europe

You'd think that if Europe really hurt our small squad which has been small ever since Moyes took over, that at least one of those European seasons would have us getting less points. But not even that, we actually get consistently more points when we're in Europe.

Why are you saying that you have no hope in us winning these games at all? 4 games remaining, anything can happen, the way some people say that the season is over baffles me tbh.

Yes we may be outsiders but there is still a possibility we can pull it off. Your saying that Europa would be pointless to play in, of course it would matter, european football is missed at Goodison.

We haven't won at Stamford Bridge or Anfield in the league in over a decade. The chances of us winning both are therefore very small indeed.

If Chelsea win the Europa League and finish in a Champions League spot, does the Europa spot move down to 6th?

Just a thought...
If Chelsea finish 5th and win Europa I think 6th could get it but I'm not completely sure.

Wigan may get it an all.

Somewhat of a contractual obligation job this, azul. Saving it up, are we?

There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth if we have to watch another display like S'land, so they might as well tonk them right off the pitch, eh? It would be just like them. Just don't let the maitre'd touch the ball in a dangerous place. Chico'd do him, from the air of this preview, but it's no reason to give up points when he could be distracted instead. Maybe he could touch Chico in a dangerous place - and I'm sure azul would be happy to take one for the team.

Alternately, marking him might be a good ploy, but Jonny has one mo...

(like Elvis Costello) never mind, just forget that. You don't need to hear that.

Ahhhhhh. Who are we?

3 - 1.

With the things to play for at this stage in the season and a fully fit squad I don't see why we cannot approach these games the same way we approached the Spurs and Arsenal games.

I'd say the derby is a very winnable one indeed, we're due a win there anyway.

Give it up, mate. You'll only be disappointed.

So much in that preveiw has in stitches, me arl fella was exactly the same, would give out fck to anyone who,d listen when we got turned over. All his mates had developed the bad news look in ready when he came in the boozer, most of the fckers were RS, but the good kind*. But as you said Chico, we were boss in the 60s and 70s so lord rest me Da there were plenty of times to stick it to them,...... Wish the relationship with the affables is like it was then, but sadly i dont think it will ever be.
