Only scored two goals in three games... just saying like.

Can't remember us shooting against Madrid, all game didn't even test their keeper (I'm aware we had a penalty shout turned down and Distin's header disallowed), and did we show much in front of goal against Juve? Don't think so. Didn't see the game last night but again sounds like we didn't work their back line or keeper much.

The main thing that stands out from the three games, for me anyway, is the amount of fannying around in defence by the likes of Jagielka and Distin and poor mis-placed passes directly to the opposition that led to us being under pressure.

I hope this ponsy tiki-taka football works from Martinez, but I do feel we'd be better being safer in defence (I don't mean hoofball, but passing it between central defenders and triangles with the goalkeeper when both of our first choice CBs are **** on the ball doesn't seem like it's going to work) is an incredibly dangerous tactic.

Bit worried like, especialy since it seems there's no money left in the pot unless one of our better players is sold.

We´re lacking offensive quality and have been since we lost Arteta, I think that´s obvious. I´m not the manager but if I was I´d make signing a central, attacking midfielder the priority. Preferably one with a exotic name.

I've followed this US tour, and while we can point to positive aspects of it all, the fact remains that we haven't won a match.

Penalty shoot outs aren't wins; they're an artificial way of finding a result after a draw.

In fact, I don't think we've ever won in America in the 2 or 3 times we've been there in the last 5 or 6 years.

I know they're friendly pre-season matches, but you'd expect us to win one occasionally.

It won't mean anything when we step out at Norwich, but it's still disappointing.

Juve and Real are very strong opposition, but Valencia? Come on. Don't tell me a consistent top third Premier League club aren't better than a La Liga mid table outfit.

RM has been very shrewd in these games. Not once has he played his strongest eleven. He just wants to see the depth of his squad.

Have faith in Bob x

Fully expected animals having it away tbh......

Everton forum mate, can't run the risk nowadays. Plus I'm effectively building up a credit by doing it, few weeks of posting standard links and people will start to believe I've changed.

Good plan, I will now open up any of your links without a second thought.......

Only seen the Madrid and Valencia games but we've looked poor upfront. The results don't mean anything really but with Fellaini being played deeper we seem to have been lacking any kind of real threat upfront apart from Mirallas.

Hope we don't ever play Victor upfront alone in the league.I have no confidence in him to be our main striker, although he's a decent squad member.

It'll be interesting to see what team starts against Norwich as he's been choping and changing quite a bit(as expected)to get match fitness and game time for most of the squad.

This is what was annoying me last season that our attacking was all based on Fellaini and I wasn't impressed at all. Martinez got his work cut out to be fair.

3 take aways from last night:

1) When playing from the back, the passing needs to be much quicker and crisp. The defensive mids need move movement to find those pockets of space. On numerous occasions, Jags and Distin looked frustrated passing between themselves or back to the keeper.

2) The pre-season rotation has been fun to watch. Naismith put in 2 quality shifts past two games which Oviedo fed right into.
The new Barca kiddo looks like he has some talent but needs polishing of mental aspects. Actually, it looks like several players needed some mental checks during the past couple of games. I will imagine that comes with a longer working relationship with RM.

3) Still the number 1 position to fill is up top. Bad touches galore. Poor movement. ...I am at the point where i would suggest Mirallas play forward and someone else on the wing. At least he is willing to run and take on a defender
