Come on lids! It's pre season, we have played 3 very good teams, beaten one, narrowly beaten by the other 2. Played very well in 2 of the games and utter crap in the last one. We're adapting to a new manager and new tactics thats exactly what pre seasons all about. Give them a chance eh?

so very this

Great experience against some top European opposition.

Made me more excited to see Everton under Martinez.

Let's get home, regroup, get a couple of new faces in and crack on.

Only scored two goals in three games... just saying like.

Can't remember us shooting against Madrid, all game didn't even test their keeper (I'm aware we had a penalty shout turned down and Distin's header disallowed), and did we show much in front of goal against Juve? Don't think so. Didn't see the game last night but again sounds like we didn't work their back line or keeper much.

The main thing that stands out from the three games, for me anyway, is the amount of fannying around in defence by the likes of Jagielka and Distin and poor mis-placed passes directly to the opposition that led to us being under pressure.

I hope this ponsy tiki-taka football works from Martinez, but I do feel we'd be better being safer in defence (I don't mean hoofball, but passing it between central defenders and triangles with the goalkeeper when both of our first choice CBs are **** on the ball doesn't seem like it's going to work) is an incredibly dangerous tactic.

Bit worried like, especialy since it seems there's no money left in the pot unless one of our better players is sold.

The result means nothing, it,s pre season.

The bigger question is...have the players adjusted to the way NO FEAR BOB wants his players to play.

Are we cutting out silly mistakes at the back?
Are we creating more chances with the new system?
Does Bob know his best 11 and strongest formation for the new season.

We will find out soon.

Hmmm...was on a plane, and missed the game. Not sure if I want to rewatch going by people's comments. Pre-season, but I do appreciate what folks are saying about our offense. Right now seems like unless Mirallas pulls something out of his ass we're not doing much else.

But pre-season is so hard to judge.

The issue I have got is we use to much time on the ball . Martinez seems to have made the team play possession football when defending but it doesn't look like he has learned them to make the runs and use quick direct passes to create opportunities. We are trying to play with barca by just pressing with the ball but using 5 yard passes to get there . He needs to quicken things up and get the players to make runs

Just finished watching that.. glad I didn't stay up for it.

We really really missed Pienaar and Osman. Don't care what anyone says, those two are still the heartbeat of the team. We couldn't get anything going without them.

Result means nothing in pre-season, I wouldn't mind losing 0-4 if our performance was good. But the performance was not good today. I'm worried about our defence, it hasn't been looking good. Fact is we have not kept a clean sheet this pre-season.

If we get Alderweireld, and RM decides to go with three at the back, this is my option;

Alderweireld - Jagielka - Alcaraz/Stones

Distin has been the weak spot in our defence this USA-tour. I haven't seen any of the other games this pre-season, but judging by the performances he's had in America, he has been far from promising.
