Only 4. Maybe Alcarez, Rohl etc need to self-identify as CB's too get on the pitch.Moyes is having wet dreams about playing 4 centre halves in defence again.

Garner has taken around 70 corners and countless free-kicks this season. Net result....virtually a big, fat zero despite having targets like Tarkowski, Keane, Obrien, Beto and Barry who can all be very useful with their head. When you have 5 corners and do exactly the same corner 5 times and it's utterly ineffective....
So then you get 5 more and do exactly the same thing!
Respectfully disagree mate - Moyes brand of football is stale. It won't take us any further at all and I really don't see TFG keeping him beyond the Summer.Well, it was more in relation to what we had last year with Moyes coming in. Not sure it is that stale for us, just yet, as in the players are putting in the effort, etc.
Can't have too many - we need to get 3 keepers in the match day squad.Only 4. Maybe Alcarez, Rohl etc need to self-identify as CB's too get on the pitch.
Watching Bruno ref the game probablyPolishing his shoes to a wonderful shade of brown
I heard he was there to buy @davek a drink in the executive loungePolishing his shoes to a wonderful shade of brown
See I agree with this. Any goal we would score would be chalked off for a foul anyway. It’s time to go the Arsenal way and have everyone in a position and running in rather than everyone just pushing each other on the line.Garner has taken around 70 corners and countless free-kicks this season. It's rinse and repeat and has become a running joke with a few of us who sit together - we're running a book on how many corners it will be from Garner before we profit from it. If it ain't working, change it until it does.
100%, our players were way too close to the goalie jockeying for position for each corner, just the type of situation where in the unlikely event that we did manage to get the ball on the net the ref and VAR would have found a reason to cancel it. Must say, that was a very weak reffing performance last night, he might as well have just given Slabhead and Rat-teeth the whistle.See I agree with this. I'm not saying last night was our best line up, and it is not the line up I would have chosen (for the same reasons you mention), my point was that Moyes traditionally sets up not to lose, rather than to try and win.We had our best DCM at RB with a RB on the bench and Gana in midfield who's been crap all season, our best CB at LB with a LB on the bench and 2 crap CBs playing at CB. In what world does this give us the best chance of not losing? And how did it go for us last night and at many other home games?
Fwiw Maguire was injured. Amorim would not have played Heaven over Maguire.Reflections.
First half: Manure had a lot more possession, but did nothing with it really.
Second half: A lot more even, and we came into the game a lot more.
Corners: If the idea was to unsettle their defence/GK, it did't work. Uselss ploy!
Their goal: When you are on the attack, you DO NOT leave yourself threadbare and susceptible to a counter attack. How many times have we seen this already this season? That is down to Moyes getting the organisation 100% wring on the pitch.
Substitutions: George created more of a threat in the short time he was on, than anyone else in the team for the whole period he was sitting on the bench. If Moyes has a brain, he's got to start from the next game onwards.
Finally, and it sticks in the craw to say this: Credit to Carrick. He took over a team that was nearly destroyed by Amorim. Went to a back four, bringing Maguire back in as the rock in the centre of their defence (and although I don't rate him too highly, he's done a superb job since coming back). Sorted out the back four and the midfield in front of them, and, I believe, has won-5, drawn-2 since taking charge of the team. Credit where credit is due...
Last I saw, Maguire was on the pitch from the start last night. What game were you watching?Fwiw Maguire was injured. Amorim would not have played Heaven over Maguire.
Amorim is an insane person and deserved to be fired on that, but it was really quite clear the whole season that the United preferred players are a really good team. Yea when Mbuemo and Amad left for afcon at the same time Fernandes and Maguire got hurt it went a lot worse.
Personally I think they’re in the danger zone now. Carrick is not actually a top manager and even yesterday was pretty shaky, but if they win too much they’ll bring him back. They need to finish in the CL without being too good.
But starting games with Gana, and Tarks and Keane as a partnership, whilst playing better players out of position to accommodate these 3 car crashes has the opposite effect.I'm not saying last night was our best line up, and it is not the line up I would have chosen (for the same reasons you mention), my point was that Moyes traditionally sets up not to lose, rather than to try and win.
Doesn't mean he never loses, doesn't mean his line ups are the same ones we would choose, just that he chooses line ups and tactics based primarily on trying not to lose
I’m talking about where you gave Carrick credit for bringing Maguire back. Carrick didn’t do anything, Maguire just returned to fitness.Last I saw, Maguire was on the pitch from the start last night. What game were you watching?
Carrick shaky? With 5 wins and 2 draws in the seven games since he took over.
I'll have some of what you are taking at the moment...
