Do you know the difference between those two words and the word 'expectations'

I aspire to seeing an Everton team competing with the best at the top end of the table and in the running for every cup competition we play in.

I don't expect to see that any time soon.
Being an old arse late to social media etc when I startled looking at forums it was on Blue Kipper when it was in its infancy. That as you will know was a good few years ago. I saw someone post on there that they didn't expect to see us lift a cup in the next 25yrs. I thought that ridiculous but he's correct.
Regarding expectations, I was a little more optimistic thinking we should be able at least to compete to try and win things.
The sad truth is we're not even doing that.

Apologies, I am not sure I understand the point?

Last night there was not much between the teams, so a draw would have been seen as a fair result.
And in lots of games we've got three points when a draw would have been the fairer result and others when we've won despite being second best for virtually the whole game. Having possibly the best keeper in the division has come in very handy.

There are now only 2 teams that have scored less than us this season.

The majority seem to find a way of scoring wether its open play , long throw ins or set pieces they all do it.

We genuinely need to get a first class set piece coach , as looking at the huge amount of corners we had tonight we were a shambles.
Three teams. Wolves, Forest and Sunderland.

Sure. Moyes is a cautious manager. He has always been a cautious manager so it should be no surprise to anyone that he is still a cautious manager.

His first instinct is to put out a team that has the least chance of losing. He has always done this, this also shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.

We don't have a very good team. We have a small squad. Most of the squad are more used to relegation battles than challenging for Europe. They have been very succesful at that for the last few years, but they have not been very succesful at dominating and winning games.

So when a cautious manager has very few top players at his disposal, and most of those players are able to battle hard but not very good at dominating teams, then it would be rather foolish to suggest that he ignores all of those factors and goes out against a team that are currently in a great vein of form and try to play them off the park.
Sorry mate, we are all entitled to our own opinion, but I think we absolutely do have a have a good team. We may not have a good squad, but our first 11 is good. The constant ethos of square pegs and round holes is making them look poor. One of the scariest things about last night was it looked like Illy has just got fed up. If he has, he will be gone the end of the season, and others might follow.

Disagree, don't think we ever looked like scoring (what our plan was supposed to be when we got in the final third? I don't know) lumping the ball forward to the big left back and hoping for scraps isn't ideal, also didn't think we played well overall mainly due to how we were set up and although our forwards are limited, what more was barry supposed to do? He didn't get a sniff of service and thought he worked chasing down etc. As for those corners?
Some truth in this, always aware that rubbish strikers at Everton seem to do better at other clubs. The service is shocking

Just remembered that drop ball which the united keeper picked up and then dropped, giving it to Barry only for the referee to bail him out with a heaping pile of big 6 match fixing.

The ball was in play the minute he did the drop ball. Thats how drop balls work. That shouldve been a goal.

Agree with the post saying Mbappe would struggle in this team but also agree that Barry and Beto aren't good enough and we need better.

The squad isn't the best but theres a decent starting 11 amongst it that could do a lot better than what we are at the moment.

We're 6 points off Leeds in 15th and if you look at the recent form we're only heading in one direction. Our manager telling us he's aiming for Europe but playing football you'd see on a local park. Its just bizarre.

Why is our goalscoring so inept season after season? Just looked at the table on the red button,it's embarrassing to see our 29 in the goals (F) column, even soon to be relegated West a Ham have scored 32.
Maybe Moyes should try playing a RB at RB, a LB at LB, our best CB as a a CB, our best MF as a MF and see if our goalscoring opportunities increase and therefore our goals.

Sure Moyes has reasons why Square pegs are going in round holes. And if Braithwaite is LCB, he stops the assist. Left winger is used from the beginning, we are more of a threat going forward.

Not sure how TV presented, the officiating is awful, the neck pulling by utd back line, the backing into Everton players when jumping, someone neck will get broken soon.

Every 50/ 50 was Utd, the yellow card for Pickford, since when do you stop game to get ready for substitution, the boo's were for corrupt ref and his team.

Garner man of the match.

I thought last night said a lot about what Grealish brings to the team, not the skill although that’s obvious, but the attitude and how his presence seems to lift the rest of them, giving the belief that we could win.

We do have a decent first eleven, but they still need convincing that they’re a good first eleven.

Except Keane. He still needs to be convinced he’s a footballer.

square pegs in round holes no pace , no ideas no creativity and not one chance created for Barry ( doubtful he would have taken it )
Garner sorely missed in midfield , Tim and Gana too many stray passes
No pace at the back or up front
Armstrong liost out on the wings
Why didn’t he start Coleman or Patterson at RB
George on the right Skilman on the left and Armstrong with Garner and KDH on the middle
Too predictable and too easy to beat on the counter
Either one of Branthwaite or O Brien at the centre back and that goal wouldn’t have gone in
Tarks was way behind Sesko chasing him back
