Europe Thread 25/26

The next two games will go a long way to deciding how the season ends. Two wins and we’re in the conversation for a Champions League place, two losses and we’re scrapping for a Conference League place.

If the players in good form can keep it going, and Moyes can muster one of his trademark strong finishes, I think we have every reason to be hopeful.

I so want a win against Brentford to make the derby as spicy as possible.

Even if we went and had a mega spend in prep for it, Moyes would have to change his entire ethos in certain games, some matches we would have to go on the front foot and make a game of it and against decent teams. I think we need to spend alot of money on the squad.

Read somewhere that squad value for 5th-9th would typically be £550mil+ and top 4 £850mil.

Cant remember where I read it or if those are in £ or another currency. But the point stands.

Also forgot the numbers but I think the max we'd get for Conference is £15mil, Europa is £25mil and champions league is obviously far higher plus the additional sponsors etc.

So, for us to fast track the revenue streams to build the squad I'd like us to get into the big cup.

Also, we'd have a better chance of tying down players and also attracting the ones we want.
 
Something in the Athletic yesterday about qualifying for Europe would have us in trouble with the different calculation of PSR for UEFA competitions. I'm not a subscriber so dont know the full story.

My suspicion is that these Everton-friendly client hacks are doing the bidding of someone somewhere.

Who's fault is this then? Moyes or Patterson?
