Europe Thread 25/26

Just to clarify a few things.

In the instance of dual ownership, there are a few aspects to consider, well for UEFA.

1. League Positioning

If we finished 5th and Roma 6th, we would take priority.

2. The Italian, German, Spanish leagues are pretty much tied together on coefficient, with .214 separating all 3 leagues. Italy have 3 sides out and theyre all from the more rewarding CL. Spain needs to split across 8 teams. Roma & Bologna face each other in Europa, so there will be another Italian loss, so I think Top 5 is unlikely for Italy.

3. Ownership of Everton. Theres method in what we are doing, and I wouldnt be totally shocked if theres news which comes out, that Evertons ownership is transferred to Roundhouse, or whatever its called or EFCW, to get around the loophole. Forest did so, Palace didn't, which os why Palace were downgraded.

4. Places available

Due to City-Arsenal In League cup, 6th becomes a European spot in the league (this is more or less 7th due to extra CL space). Should any side qualifying for Europa via the league win the FA Cup, then 8th will become available, if so itd be

1-5 Champions League
6-7 Europa
8 Conference League

As far as I am aware, even if Spurs won the CL, Forest EL and Palace the Conference League, 8th would still be conference League and 11 English Teams would qualify for Europe.

Using Drogheda as an example, only if Roma & Everton qualified for Conference would we potentially lose out.

Not sure if it's plain old overconfidence just because we've won 2 on the spin but funnily enough I can see it. They're heavily reliant on set pieces, we are a fairly well drilled defensive side with big physical players and are suited to having less of the ball. Should've got something off them in the home game as well being denied a stonewall penalty, even when we were far from our best that night
We could easily have been beaten by 4. It will take a great performance to come away with anything. Hopefully their legs turn to jelly.

Arsenal looked as nervy as an A.I. image of Bugs Bunny finding grey hairs in Arteta's Barnet last night, with an undeserved fortunate 3 points.

With our away form and push for Europe incentive, they might bottle it.

Can you DM me the name of your supplier please
We've the third fewest goals conceded and Moyes sets us up in away games to keep it tight and hope to nick a goal to win. It's worked plenty of times recently and with the points gathered in the last few games our players will be confident in the approach.

Arsenal haven't been smashing teams with their fluid open play; they keep it tight and grind out wins.

The pressure is entirely on Arsenal; It's like a free hit for us.

Barry and Beto have both scored recently and have regained some confidence end effectiveness.

Put it together and I think it's entirely plausible.

I’m more confident of us beating arsenal away than i am of beating any side other than burnley at home

Embarrassed that i don't know this but now that 5 teams qualify for Champs League is 7th automatic qualification for Europa provided some team outside the top 7 doesn't win the EFL/FA Cup ?
7th will probably be Europa League and 8th Conference given Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City will probably be in FA Cup semi-final.

I'd just written out a dead long post about effects on Everton if 4 of the 5 Premier League teams exit the Champions League at this stage in terms of 5th place still being a Champions League qualifying position.

Seems English teams are miles clear in the coefficient table so even if all 5 teams went out, it wouldn't impact qualification this season.

It's certainly 5 Premier League sides in the Champions League next season.

We basically need to hope one of City, Chelsea or Arsenal win the FA Cup to ensure that Europa League spot is moved to 7th place in the league, with 8th then being a Conference League spot.

If we finished 7th, I could stomach Liverpool winning the FA Cup even.

I don't really want to see us in that crap Conference League though as it would impact our league performances too much and the payoff financially and in terms of satisfaction (hardly much fun winning against some Bosnian 4th division side) isn't big enough.

Roma are down to 5th which is Europa league so even if we do get into Europa we could very well be punted down, Juventus are 1 point behind Roma in the conference league position.. Everton that.... qualifying for a league that usually consists of no top sides only to go out to Juventus in the quarter final.

For the final time, the joint ownership situation with Roma is sorted

If we both qualify for same competition it will be fine

Hey speak for yourself, I'd be made up tonking a Bosnian 4th division side about 6-0. We haven't had much to cheer about the last 8 years so I'm all for whatever wins we can muster!

Ano it would be mint, but you know our general luck, we'd probably end up getting relegated due to them still not buying a real striker or any full backs, plus obviously the usual injuries to key players.
