Europe Thread 25/26

18 points from our remaining 10 games

Burnley (H)
Arsenal (A)
Chelsea (H)
Brentford (A)
Liverpool (H)
West Ham (H)
Citeh (H)
Palace (A)
Sunderland (H)
Spurs (H)

I fancy us to take some points verses the top two (very us), but it feels like the rest are 50-50 chance of the game going either way.

Might be a year too soon.
That's Spurs away, isn't it? And West Ham away?

Too many difficult home games imo (rs, Chelsea, city) where i dont think we'll win and then too much pressure to ensure we beat Burnley and Sunderland. Come the end of the season we'll be looking back at Wolves, Leeds, Bournemouth, Brentford at home and only taking 2pts from them.

We'll need the away form to continue and the home form to massively improve starting with Tuesday, to stand a chance. I think we need 16/17pts to be in with a shout and i think we'll end up with another 10-12pts.

Looking at what we have left to play v Brentford 7th will be hard to get. Suspect we’ll end up on 50-55 points - it’ll be our form against the bottom 3 all season that causes us to miss out on Europe.

All we need is for the home form to be better and we're in with a massive shout of Europe.

Teams like Newcastle aren't going to make it now and in fact none of those below us will get past us. Brentford are low hanging fruit and we'll overtake them. Even Chelsea look flakey and vulnerable.

I said earlier that 6th-8th is the very probable landing zone for us come May.

Yes, Arsenal, Chelsea and the derby are on the horizon but we can get points there, no question.

Loving the optimism Dave.

ye agree here

unless them or fulham fall off a cliff

and it goes to 8th as @MikeH72 says?

I expect 8th to be a European spot, it will open up if either a top 6 team wins the FA cup or a European competition. I think Villa will win the Europa League and one of our teams will win the Champions League. FA Cup can be a bit of a toss up as we saw last season but more often than not it’s won by one of the big boys.

thanx mike ;)

Some favourable results for us tonight as it stands. Although we have a very tough 5 game run coming up now compared to the teams around us and it's still very tight in that area of the table with Fulham, Bournemouth and Sunderland breathing down our necks. That Brentford game is looking more and more like a cup final as the days go by

Think the run in at the end of the season is where we will need to really go pedal to the metal, it's gonna be incredibly squeaky bum stuff methinks. Hopefully the FA Cup winners finish ahead of us then 8th gets Conference League which will be a boost
