Europe Thread 25/26

By the end of Tuesday night we'll be on 43 points with 9 games left.

That'll mean - IMO - we'll need another 14-15 points to secure a euro spot from the last 27 available. I dont see 60 points as being the requirement this season. 57-58 possibly gets you into Europe.

🤷‍♂️

United have done the opposite and gone from a team last year that were at the wrong end of the table to be chasing CL places with the finishing line of the season approaching. I don`t think its down to them improving a lot but more down to another drop off in the quality of the PL. The fact they missed out on Europe this season helped them somewhat and the fact Spurs landed CL has not given them the chance to recover from how poor they were last year. This year for us is a big chance to jump a few steps forward in one go, but we always seem to let other teams do that while we make excuses why we can`t do the same.
Manchester United being able to take the best player from Wolves (Cunha) and Brentford (Mbuemo) for a combined £130million plus goalkeeper Lammens and another £80 million on Sesko probably helps!

Lads, lads, lads...we know what happens when we have a serious opportunity to make strides. Isn't it weird that these opportunities tend to be at home? What's our record at home like again?

Oh.

Anyway, I think it's odds against us making Europe with the appaling home form we have. But the incredible away form - which is surely unsustainable - gives us a sniff theoretically. For now. But really, if we're going to do it we must surely beat Burnley at home. We need to make our home form just as unsustainable as the away surely is. We've had some tremendous days on the road, United, Forest, Villa, Newcastle. But woeful in front of our own. Even a spawny 1-0 on Tuesday would be great - just to give players a sense that we can win at home.

I think we've shot ourselves in the foot with the home results, though. We just seem to be that kind of side this season and the manager has yet to work out the conundrum. Away from home, stellar.

8th guarantees Europe

Away form is seemingly in good stead, but United, Liverpool, Chelsea & city to come at home.

Not taking any maximum from West Ham, Brentford, Wolves, Leeds, Bournemouth will be what stops us getting in Europe, mind...

So today is a big game, ahead of Newcastle next week. Id snap ypur hand off for 4pts from the 2.
8th only guarantees Europe if a team in Europe wins the FA Cup.

Thanks Wat.

Arsenal
Liverpool
Man utd
Man City
Brentford
Chelsea

Currently in European spots.

Odds see Favourable that 8th makes europe, but that's the aim.
Newcastle/Sunderland the outliers and Palace won it a few years ago but you would think one of them you named would usually win it.

I might be in a minority but I would Love to get in ECL, that would be my preference.

18 points from our remaining 10 games

Burnley (H)
Arsenal (A)
Chelsea (H)
Brentford (A)
Liverpool (H)
West Ham (H)
Citeh (H)
Palace (A)
Sunderland (H)
Spurs (H)

I fancy us to take some points verses the top two (very us), but it feels like the rest are 50-50 chance of the game going either way.

Might be a year too soon.
