I think it actually goes beyond or is an issue apart from Brexit or Remain (though it does explain why Brexit won the vote - and the lefties - of whom I'm one, the BBC, the Guardian etc do not understand this as their own economic situation is some way removed from the working, or non-working poor)

This is because today's professional left wing are not really interested in the ordinary working man or woman, it's just a badge to wear on their £3000 suits and dresses while they dine in west end restaurants. There are too many London centric lefty lovies who are no different from their supposedly conservative opponents. It's just a con, perpetratrated upon the weakest by the usual controlling self serving elite........

Agreed, though unfortunately I don't find Boris, Farage or Duncan Smith the answer either

You can excuse them dining in West End restaurants, after all its not like they are in charge of their own party any more.

It's the same people........

Yes, I agree. Similarly in the US, Clinton is the same as Bush, (very easy to see in terms of their foreign policys).

A difference from the orthodoxy is only allowed up to a point. If any politician significantly outside that orthodoxy crops up, they are met with the full force of the establishment, the media etc, trying to draw them into this orthodoxy through pressure, persuasion, flattery, bureaucratic inertia and invites to the Bilderberg Group meetings etc.

Indeed, a new look is required......

100%. The term 'In work benefits' is hideous, a clear failing of the system rather than the individual.

As a man of the left my main gripe with New Labour was their refusal to tackle the issue head on for fear of falling out of favour with business leaders. Working tax credits was a sticking plaster that was in effect a subsidy for low paying companies.

Fair enough with small firms struggling to keep their head above water, I can accept low pay with a top up from the government. What I can't accept is companies making in some class multi billion £ profit yet still getting away with paying staff the minimum wage (And in turn the government topping up their salary). There should be some sort of mechanism linked to profit base that prohibits this.

Indeed. TBH the thing I like most about Corbyn is that the elites viscerally hate him, almost to the point of madness (like his comment on Castro's death for instance, which has been slated even though it was broadly the same as what Obama said and despite the fact that the vast majority of the people slating it have spent most of their lives praising the likes of Pinochet, the Saudis, Kissinger et al despite them doing far worse than what Fidel did).

Totally agree. Small companies can only do so much or they go to the wall. Multinationals should have an additional tax that is funnelled down to our small companies by way of tax relief. It shouldn't matter whether you work for a large or small company, pay and benefits at the lowest levels need to be comparable......

Indeed. And the reason why they hate him (and I include the BBC The Guardian and much of the Labour Party as well as the obvious Tories and Right Wing Press) is because he seems unlikely to get drawn into the elite's way of doing things and so they see him as a threat to their way of existence.

Going after them for tax whilst funding decent homes, health service, education etc for all would be better. Low pay is less unacceptable when you have a secure roof over your head.

It really is the whole economic system - the fact that more and more youngsters now will never afford to buy their own home, the lack of decent social housing and the casino economy manipulated by foreign exchange and share speculators leading to the collapse of the banking system which then gets bailed out by taxpayers. In a way what Philip Green did with BHS or those owners of Rover did in creaming off money is also happening in effect with those in the banking or financial industries. This is why arguing over Brexit or not is somewhat missing the point as without radical change in our foundations things will likely get worse for ordinary people.
