It's means the government of the day cannot push through a monumental decision such as this without the approval of parliament.

It means the laws of the country have been upheld & that democratically elected representatives will undertake a vote on the terms of our exit of the EU.

It is the exact opposite of what Pete & others will infer it to be.

So does that mean it might not happen then?

Tell me Joe, if what the government eventually end up with from the Brexit process is so awful, would you want it pushed through regardless?
Thats the rich remain fault yes its been obstructed in the courts all your whinges on uncertainty I am sure it will get passed if its a poor brexit, but having to divulge your hand before negotiations will be in the Eu's favour so yes if it goes through via government whatever the brexit plan is its the vote of the MPs not the people.
They have had there day in court now we will face the consequences of that as article 50 will have to be now debated , and I can foresee MPs wanting to know the ins and outs of any deal simply tipping of the EU pre negotiation the government will blame the courts and the MPs who demand details in advance of negotiations!
we will possibly go into negotiations now in a weakened position lets see!

It's not poker, the EU will have some of the finest analysts in the world acting on their behalf. They will know exactly what our 'hand' is, just as well as we do. Information flows freely these days.

Very technically, yes.

But there is no way that the commons will shoot down a major referendum result, there would be riots on the streets!

You reckon?

50% of people who voted to leave probably have no idea of what's even going on anymore. Apathy will set in as it does in everything British.

They will have read that the jungle has been closed and think of it as some sort of racist triumph and probably not even be arsed anymore.

Yeah I reckon, but I'm not 100% on it. You're right about apathy, but some of the strength of feeling is so intense, I just doubt it could be reversed.

The Lords can be bypassed.
Not really, they can keep volleying the Bill back to the House and delay the passing of it for about 2 years if they dispute the proposal of how the Govt is proposing to handle the key terms of exit.

Hard Brexit effectively died today, which makes it a great day for the UK.

I see Farage has already started talking up civil unrest the maggot.

I find it really strange how there was no preparation or planning for a Brexit vote. Were they genuinely underestimating a Brexit win, and thus completely unprepared for one?

It has been a shambles from the beginning. I wouldn't rule out it being a massive ploy to find out the true voting intentions and public opinion of voters.

Civil unrest like the poll tax riots?
