Joey this issue is so important, regardless of whether pro or anti Brexit, this is about the sovereignty of parliament - the fact that the removal of citizen's rights (caused by Brexit) can only be brought about by Parliament not the Executive.

A brilliant day for democracy.
Why would Brexit be a cause of the removal of citizens rights.?

Reading some of these comments i gather those Un elected Lords will more than likely have the final say on what happens and could go against the majority of the people with a valid vote in a referendum, great democracy we've got going here lads ;)

Yes I posted the precedent of how parliment works - Please don't patronise me - most MPs will go with the vote of a democratic referendrum it will mean now we tip off the EU our brexit plans if you think that's a success you will see, and face the consequences from the EU by outlining our plans I accept the ruling of the court unlike you and many others who can not accept the referendum result ok!

Do you want democracy to return to Wesminster?

Could someone give the uneducated me a brief idea on what this means please?

It's means the government of the day cannot push through a monumental decision such as this without the approval of parliament.

It means the laws of the country have been upheld & that democratically elected representatives will undertake a vote on the terms of our exit of the EU.

It is the exact opposite of what Pete & others will infer it to be.

the referendum voted for exit the EU of it now just polictical debate and a vote you will moan on about when you lose that!

Joey, today's case is not about Brexit per se. It is about the ability of the executive or Parliament to grant or take away the rights of British citizens. One of the claimants was a leave voter.

It's about the only entity that can change our rights is Parliament itself - the fact that the High Court re-enforces that view is a huge moment in our democracy.

The leave voters who wanted to "take back power" and "create our own laws" have taken power away from democratically elected MEPs and given more power to the unelected Lords.

That's using the leave logic that all laws were made in the EU.
