So after all the discussions about economics, free trade, greater opportunities etc etc I am pleased we have established that the Brexit case for not remaining in the single market is built on objections to the freedom of movement of people within it.

The Brexit case, even as presented by their own campaign, had virtually nothing to do with economics and it was about nationalism and immigration control and a return to some perceived 'golden age' where Britain was top dog. Hardly surprising then that any objection to the single market is based on a view on immigration rather than economics.

I think it's more like freedom of skills we have a skill shortage due to past governments of all polictical persuasions so immigration will carry on on a work card skill basis. I would guess from all over the world not just the EU - hoping in the meantime UK youngsters leaving school will be moved to vocational job training proper apprenticeships not pushed automatically down the university route with choice of course - nothing wrong in that!
No way should we have a shortage of tradesmen in the UK - it a system fault - not to blame anyone other than policy makers in past governments in the last 15 years!

But, as usual, he grabbed hold of the wrong end of the stick. Brexit is about leaving an effective political union that also includes trade. Once we leave then we just talk about trade......

Why does a free trade arrangement also demand free, unlimited, unquantifiable movement of people? I don't get the logic on having no figures. I like figures. Figures are good. Why should countries not be able to set their own net migration targets?

I support migration but I don't see how it ever became intertwined in trade deals. And I like knowing I can up or down my intake of migrants based on circumstance in any given year. That makes sense.

Because Esk doesn't want to leave........

In your own words:
It's not brexit supporters saying anything it's the EU saying that's how it is, not us winners
All we have said is we don't want to be part of the group as it doesn't offer us the future we want.
As far as I am aware there isn't any hard and fast lines from are side, other than we want out.
Unlike the EU who are trying to paint us into a corner, will not work I am afraid, they WILL have to compromise as will we in the long run.

Indeed....there is only Esk going on about this single Market......which we are leaving.....
