Indeed. I would like to see the government state categorically that no UK based companies will lose out because of any potential import tariffs levied by the EU. We should state, quite simply, that because the EU sells more to the UK and that reciprocal tariffs would be applied then the monies received through incoming tariffs to the UK will be used to compensate for outgoing tariffs to the EU.........nice and simple, the additional tariffs, the difference between what we pay and what we receive will be used to administer the process.......

Now that I agree with, a proposal to use one of the problems (tariffs) and use them advantageously.

There probably isnt a CEO in Europe or the UK who wouldnt disagree Pete.

Lets hope the EU political dogma doent hold sway.

As I've said before, the European politicians will eventually adopt a pragmatic stance. The EU commission people and the self interest groups like the Parliament will take a bit longer. Eventually though, they will all see that there is absolutely no benefit to the EU in taking a hostile stance against one of their largest trading, political and military partners.....

Assuming Brexit does occur, why don't we just stay in the single market? Much easier.
You can still have access to it without being tied to it the fact Theresa May has stated the position on how laws will be made in future rules stayin in it is an impossible aim, but with negotiation we will probably get access with the freedom in the WTO!
Let's wait and see?

Because we are told we must have this 'free movement of people' which should have no bearing on any trade relationship......I think they will quietly drop it if they have any sense.....

If they let us, without certain agreements being imposed, I am sure everyone would agree. Businesses for certain.

Politicians, I am not so sure.

Indeed, some politicians within the EU have painted themselves into a corner, now either we will see them replaced with upcoming elections or removed from the EU commission. If that doesn't happen then we will have to find a way that gets them off the hook without loss of face. Our diplomatic people are well versed in this but it needs to be done during a period of quiet and without WW3 breaking out with political opportunists in the UK. I think May will eventually bring calm to the situation and then things will be sorted out.......

So it would appear that you are prepared to throw away all our existing trade relationships in order to stop Europeans from an automatic right of abode in the UK?

Just so we are clear on this.

You have completely changed the question again with the usual emotive over the top assumptions. The Canadians will now get CETA, automatic right of abode is not included, because it has nothing to do with a trade agreement.....

Are you equating CETA to the single market?

If you have no objections to Europeans having a right of abode we can stay in the single market. if you do object, that's your right, but just say so?

Complains about being insulted while consistently calling people "remoaners"

Base a whole arguement on "democracy" then says the anti-brexit people need to be silenced in the media.

Standard logic of this thread.

I'm not sure what point you are trying to make tbh. CETA is just one type of trade agreement, we will make another that suits us and the EU or if everyone behaves like children we will go via WTO. This is an EU political issue which they have to address......

The Europeans will migrate hear still after Brexit under a work permit system i.e. Control if we need them they will be allowed in just like you or I trying to move to other countries like the USA, etc if the EU agree that they can do that to the Uk then bingo you have an agreed single market deal
In other words if each country needs a brand of labour skills etc a work permit is passed not a free for all!
