If you go mate , go really early at least 4 hours, if you get through , at least you can sit down and get a cup of tea or something to eat ect.
Honestly it was mayhem, I was stressed out ,all day .
I don't really drink much anymore but ended up drinking till 4am .
By contrast Menorca airport was a breeze.
To be honest I don't travel well the best of times and it was on my mind for days before I came back.
We decided to go via Liverpool Airport this year for any trips , don't think I will be using Manchester anytime soon .
It's been rubbish at Manchester for years ,
I used to get free lounge use with my bank, the last two times I travelled I couldn't use it as we had no time.
That's another thing all the shops on the airport are missing out as nobody has any time to eat /shop ect.
These companies run everything on a shoe string and keep the staffing levels low ,meaning those they do employ are constantly under stress and low paid.
It's not just the airport it's all over the place these days.
Will do mate ;)

Like with a few things, they may not be related to Brexit but it certainly does not make things any easier, when these issues arise.

Incompetent management I assume.

Interesting ownership of Manchester Airport….Manchester Airport Group

  • 29%- The other 9 Greater Manchester Councils, which are:
    • The Borough Council of Bolton

    • The Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport

I read yesterday that Manchester Airport almost make as much from car parking as they do from airline stuff.

When I was there the airport workers security, airport hands all were employees directly of the airport.
It's gone to Swiss port and others now , did years a go and the pay and conditions have gone downhill since as the airport performance has as well.
It was hard work , but I enjoyed it and was very well paid, the competition to get on was very stiff, think there were only 60 of us out of 2000 passed the test, maths , basic engineering, and strength tests , they had to lower it to get people in by the start of the summer season.
Then a four week training school, how to load /unload planes correctly , security and a lot more.
I will bet they do very little of that now .
I loved the job, some soft b in town smashed into the back of my car , I got concussion and it cost me the job full time.
Got called back the year after and was going to help with the training.
The fella running the training had got wind of it going private and phoned me to take the take job i had been offerd on the rail ,as it was more steady .
It went private and I don't think there was everyone i knew still working there a year late, shame as they were all good at the job.
I have seen a local MP in the paper today saying he wants to go back to a well paid model to attract and retain the right staff, he is living in dreamland , these days.

I think they charge £5 just to drop someone off. Bonkers.

MAG also own East Midlands Airport and people are getting fined at the on site petrol station. The double red lines extend for miles. It’s a complete scam and rip off…..

I was at Manchester airport last week, waited just under 3 hours for my bag. It was sheer carnage.
Meanwhile, people collecting those waiting for their bags are paying £12 an hour in the car park. It’s one massive rip.
£5 to drop off as well.
If you’re travelling short haul, probably cheaper and less hassle to take a small carry on and buy a load of clothes at your destination then give them away before you return.
