No it won’t Pete.EU nationals have to show a passport or identity card to enter ROI. U.K. and ROI have had a CTA since before the EU was even born. ROI citizens are allowed full access to any part of the U.K. and vice versa. The rest of the EU have no such agreement, if they wish to visit any part of the U.K. they have to follow normal 3rd country regulations. The principle is sound and I doubt very much that there will be any border checks, it will be all electronic…..
The point I failed to make last night in a rushed post is that this cannot work. Example close to home, I’m in Donegal now, we crossed the border at Strabane/Lifford.
Both my kids are blonde hair and blue eyes. They could easily be identified as Ukrainian as they could Irish.
There is no technological solution as you well know so how could this ever be enforced without actually stopping every car for proof of identity?
