With HGV drivers and all the other roles that depended on a significant number of EU nationals, it's easy to say, replace them with UK workers.

Two key questions.

How many workers/students under 30 would consider those jobs as a career?

How many people on less than £25k pa would consider a career change/moving sector?

This is before considering more practical issues like where the job is, how much travel is needed, and what the work-life balance is.

The taste of victory...

It is incredible people got taken in by the Brexit. And the brass neck on Kate Hoey; but then she always has been one of the worst MP's on Brexit. of course the spin will be, This wasn't the Brexit we voted for or similar nonsense.
The plain fact is that professional Brexiter be that Hoey Mogg Baker Farage didn't know what they wanted, or if they did are desperately trying to backpedal because it's not worked out how they promised.

claiming that Brexit is not to blame. Cherry picked from here:https://www.ti-insight.com/briefs/europes-road-freight-market-short-of-more-400000-drivers/
Which states that:
‘The most heavily impacted European countries are Poland, the UK and Germany. The UK is in a particularly difficult position as it is not only grappling with Brexit, but it also saw many European workers leave over the course of the pandemic, as fears over lockdowns grew.’
