Don‘t get me wrong, I agree that standards need to be maintained, but 70+ pages for a fish. I wonder how many pages we will ask for after June.......
We helped draw up the legislation...

Is the seventy pages thing another exaggerated scam by europhobes? Is it specific to shellfish and the quality of our coastal waters?

It may well be, but one day before we left everything was fine, the day we left it’s all about shellfish and quality of our coastal waters. Nothing, absolutely nothing has actually changed. So the belief that the 70+ pages keeps everyone safe is just a con really, the 70+ pages are there to hinder or even stop trade. I knew the EU was a protectionist bloc but not even I could believe they were this bad....

We are a 3rd country Pete.

HMG knew what that meant. We were just not told.

The pages didn't keep people safe, the processes that underlie them do.

You didn't believe rules for 3rd countries we helped to create actually existed, that the government you supported would not be able to magic them away, or that being the aforementioned 3rd country would be in any way difficult.

Do you see the common denominator Pete?

Yep, the EU....

I understand that Roydo, we are a third country. Yet the EU a still wants to take sea produce from around our shores, the same products from the same water. If they were not allowed into our waters I could at least understand that there may be some logic, but the exact same produce ...So what is the difference that requires 70+ pages.....

Indeed, and they should have been working to make it more sensible. Now why do you believe that the EU needs all this while we are not demanding similar ?

We are not implementing exactly the same processes as we haven’t yet got the people or systems in place in order to do so, it’s not an act of altruism.

You seem shocked by the 3rd nation rules, it’s almost as if when you cheered on us leaving the SM & CU, you didn’t know what you were voting for.

Oh the irony.

I have no problem with 3rd country rules, but we allow the EU to take the same product from the exact same waters, so once again, what is the difference, what is this new health risk.....

There isnt one, obviously.

But you have accepted we are a 3rd country, (never heard of it till recently me), and the UK would have been party to that arrangement when the EU, (us) wrote the rules.

So why didnt David Davies and Nige, and Rees Mogg and Johnson say that will be the situation?

As part of the EU, the UK wrote the rules that you are now blaming the EU for.

The answer to my 3rd line is cos they lied.

No idea. But it appears that fish and the waters they are in are only safe if caught by an EU vessel ...

Which our Government knew would change as a 3rd country. (cos they wrote the rules)

But didnt tell anyone. What is it you dont get? You were happy to be lied to? Or at best, not told?

I mean, seriously, the crap about "Our fish" etc etc etc, is, in reality, "Our fish, but we will be treated as a 3rd country so it is certain that import and customs rules (that we wrote) will most likely lead to serious issues for fishermen to get their fish to the EU market"

Its not that catchy a sales pitch is it?

Yet the Remainers within government, remember them, didn’t either. Mind you it’s all pretty irrelevant for as Remainers have quoted many times, the whole fisheries sector of the U.K. adds up to sod all of nothing anyway. So what will be will be....

I take that as a "yes". You were happy to be lied to, or not told.
