ThaNK you for that, so apart from the comment from Bruce, everyone else just said that there would be border controls etc etc, which we all knew. Now hands up, honestly, how many people knew there would be 70+ pages to send them a fish .....

I mean, did you read any of the other posts apart from Bruce's? All of them talk about the logistical and technical problems of leaving the CU and the implications the increased bureaucratic workload would have for trade. Often, they made an on-the-nose prediction about the chaos that would ensue at the ports if there was no preparation or systems in place. These were from 3 or 4 years ago. Nobody predicted exactly 70 pages or whatever this new strawman you're using here, but there's a common theme that addresses the exact things that you said nobody had mentioned before now. Kind of feels like you're just being deliberately dense here idk?

Say for example, you worked in Brussels, as an MEP and you actually sat on the EU fisheries committee, or you even ran your own U.K. based fisheries business. Whilst also being a member of the Brexit party who literally solely existed on a platform to remove the U.K. from the EU. Would you not think that these people should have known the full details of the 70 pieces of paper required to export a fish as a 3rd country before they advocated us leaving the EU to the errrrmmm fishing industry?

I see the Brexit blame game, has now got to blaming the GoT forum for not spelling out the potential problems well enough.

'Kin mad stuff. The irony of it is that any chance of Brexit being a semblance of a success needs a government who actually pays attention to these sorts of details, but it seems to only be Remainers who have brought them up or are seeking some sort of accountability from the government. The Brexiteers are too busy telling British people to wait and see to and applauding a shambolic clown PM to even try and make their own terrible idea work

Just the usual brand of dishonesty from him. No one specifically mentioned 70 pages of docs for a fish, so therefore all of the hundreds of non tariff barrier / implications of leaving the CU / SM posts don’t matter.

I’m sure I wouldn’t have to look to hard to find FISH being lauded as a massive Brexit bonus btw.

You are missing the point.

Folk who voted to leave were told all the scare stories were rubbish.

"Easiest trade deal in history" "Regain control of our fish".

I would be absolutely furious, not blaming other people.

i suppose thats the difference between you two - you would use not in that last sentence, pete would use and

No one is blaming anyone, and no one is even complaining. The mistake our government has made is in allowing the EU unfettered access to the U.K. while putting every obstacle known to a bureaucrat in front of the U.K.. We should do exactly the same, then everyone can see what is really needed to be sensible.....

Indeed, and they should have been working to make it more sensible. Now why do you believe that the EU needs all this while we are not demanding similar ?

And that’s fine Prev, but we are the EU’s largest trading partner, and in July similar bureaucracy will be required for anything coming the other way. By then I’m sure our businesses will have this nailed down, but it will then come as a big shock to EU exporters. When the pain is felt by both sides something will be sorted, and that is why we were stupid to give an unreciprocated 6 month period...but we will get over it....

I’m furious that we allowed the EU 6 months of unfettered access while they stuff us with a 70+ page document. But come July.....

You've already been skoo13d on this point frando.

Forgetting the EU offered to extend to enable us to prepare ?

Too much frothing at the mouth over getting Brexit done rather than getting Brexit right. Unsurprisingly.

You have to remember that the U.K. now being independent of the EU does not only affect the U.K. these things work both ways......

If you're talking about the EU letting random doo-doo cross their border and contravening a reasoned precautionary approach to maintaining the quality of life of its member's citizens, you'll be waiting awhile.

Don‘t get me wrong, I agree that standards need to be maintained, but 70+ pages for a fish. I wonder how many pages we will ask for after June.......
