Brexit: 71 pages of paperwork for 1 lorry of fish
How new rules on exporting to the European Union have affected a British fishing firm.
Its all fine.
Mad innit.
Everyone is having their cake and not liking it! And as predicted fathers of Brexit scurried off like the habitual errant fathers they are.![]()

Thank goodness we’re now free of all that unnecessary red tape that’s been holding us back for decades.
Who knew that leaving the SM & CU and becoming (by choice) a 3rd country to the EU would result in barriers to trade? Amazing isn’t it, if only someone had pointed out the reality of what this decision would bring with it.I got a migraine just reading all that.
It was a good old fashioned Best of British migraine though.
She's doing her best.
*awaits Pete’s mental gymnastics to tell us all how beneficial this is to us
10 10 10 9.5 9.0 10It is not beneficial, either to the U.K. nor the EU, it’s stupid, but that’s the EU for you. So on a Thursday, the same fish, from the same waters, caught by the same boats could be taken to France and sold with no undue concern for health or safety. On the Friday, the same fish, from the same waters, caught by the same boats could be taken to France and now need 70+ pages of bureaucratic paperwork, because they may not be safe. Meanwhile the same fish, from the same waters, caught by a French boat, can land its catch in France without any regards to health and safety.
Now we on here are not bureaucrats, and would normally say this is stupid, because it interrupts trade and increases prices for fish, shellfish etc in the EU. However, some on here are salivating over the imposition of 70+ pieces of paper which merely reinforces the view of what the EU are...a protectionist bureaucratic bloc who are more interested in petty paperwork than the interests of its people. Things like this and the Vaccination fiasco really show up the EU for what they really are......

You were kind of told that Brexit would make trade harder though Pete. You just chose to either not believe that or to ignore it.It is not beneficial, either to the U.K. nor the EU, it’s stupid, but that’s the EU for you. Yet I don’t remember anyone, not the government advocating remain, nor the Remainers, nor even yourself Bruce, ever suggesting that even with an FTA with the EU that some 70+ pages would need to be filled in to sell a fish. You guys really let the side down there, you might even have won the argument. Ah well, we’ve left now so better make the most of it.....
Well it all comes back to the lies that were swallowed.
You believed them, I didnt.
"Better make the most of it". Triffic.
