No, the European numbers will be mainly first doses, but with far less gap between first and second doses.

As for AZ’s advice, I would just point out there that what we are doing was initially (and may still be) for all vaccines, even though Pfizer explicitly said not to do it. Nor have we had much scientific evidence to back it up, and had none available when HMG said they were going to do it.

You are arguing just for the sake of it tbh. The U.K. has delivered more vaccines than Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Poland combined...if AZ say the gap is ok and the U.K. health people say the gap is ok, I’m more than prepared to believe them because they almost certainly know more than you or I......

Is it?

Didn't Simon Stevens say that the reason they'd delayed the second doses wasn't, as the government claimed, due to "wanting to protect the largest number of people", but due to supply issues?
Sadly it seems pervasive. The Czech health ministry have just announced a pause of all vaccines, which will delay the vaccination of the most vulnerable (over 80s and health workers) until the end of March. The delivery of the Moderna vaccine has also been disrupted, with just 80,000 doses delivered next month rather than 110,000.

My understanding was that the gap was fine for the Oxford vaccine but not for the BioNTech one.

Do you not believe in yourself or your fellow workers ?....
That’s neither here nor there.
The key is the various headwinds that we have in place economically that are going to impact us going forward.

I don’t care about sovereignty. I don’t see a Tory government as superior to unelected officials in Brussels. Ive much less faith in Tory government than almost any other non lunatic form of government.

They are always self serving, callous, elitists and have shown time and time again, over and over that they don’t care about the majority of people in this country.

So I look at the purely from an economics perspective and we are in a much worse situation than we were before we exited the EU.

You can talk about what may or may not happen in the future but we are starting with a handicap. And right now any potential improvement is make believe and not built on anything of any substance. Just hope.

I could say you are making fun of the dead, but I know you are not.

That is what I believed also, but I don’t know the numbers of the mix of vaccines and we don’t know the planned dates for second doses for individuals. Either way, we either trust our Scientists and NHS or we don’t ......

It's reported the dithering EU it is their own fault........ They have not even approved some Covid vaccination s as yet .....a political mess we don't have to suffer with anymore Bruce ...

This is it. They are politicising vaccine production, because they completely made an arse of an order for a product that they still haven’t approved. So expect a political approval, with caveats to get Germany of the hook......I am truly glad to be out of the EU madhouse where more time gets wasted because of the politics of 27 nations and an overbearing bureaucracy........

And if that’s what the people want then so be it. What’s the problem ?

Because what people want changes in reaction to events.

We could end up with a much reduced little England, with significant barriers between ourselves and the giant bloc on our doorstep.

A much poorer and weaker country, with less opportunity for our citizens and the country as a whole. More nationalistic, more right wing and with poorer relations with our neighbours.

It is a real possibility.

Doesn’t matter Joey, unless you think some are more deserving of the vaccine than others. It’s a GLOBAL pandemic. It hasn’t been able to negotiate an exit from free movement.

Not ignoring the dosage instructions. I think it's playing with fire.
Why? It was a genuine question. We have done 7,000,000 vaccinations from a standing start.
How many vaccinations at this point would you call a success?

Also, performance is relative...
I found this one hidden & tucked away in the Guardian:
‘based on the agreed vaccine supply deals and taking into account the latest developments in terms of delayed production, suggests that the UK will have achieved herd immunity by vaccinating 75% of the population by 14 July, closely followed by the US on 9 August. The EU will have to wait until 21 October.’
Obviously, it's all subject to change but out of that who has been the most succesful in rolling out the vaccine? As I say, it's not a trick question, interested to learn what you think is a success?
