Worse off than what?Ok. Will the UK be worse off in 10 years time.
Can you provide the facts to say that it will?

Define 'worse off'Ok. Will the UK be worse off in 10 years time.
Can you provide the facts to say that it will?
It's very difficult to have a sensible conversation with someone who quite plainly doesn't understand the topic.Worse off than what?
Surely 'normal times' refers to the EU (given our recent departure) and French and German nationals coming here would've been covered under free movement.Unfortunately I believe in the rule of Law. If a load of French or German nationals turned up on our shores packed in boats the answer would be the same, send them back. This should have been happening in normal times, but in times of Covid 19 more so. I have no problem with anyone, from anywhere in the world, coming here provided it’s done legally. It is the reluctance to effectively deal with this issue, process people and either let them stay or send them back, that allows certain groups to jump on a bandwagon and stir up racial issues. Patel just needs to do the job properly.....
So what is it that they seek asylum from ?.....
We have 133k refugees. 0.2% of our population.
Germany over 1m (1.5% of the population).
Putin’s RUSSIA has 450,000 (0.3%)
trump’s USA 800k (0.25%)
we are 14th on the list of EU countries. Behind all of those you mention.
for comparison, Lebanon’s refugees represent 21% of their population. Which is 1.5m.
it’s almost as if we don’t have a problem at all.

The answer is usually war, famine, political intolerance, religious intolerance. There you go Pete, your question answered

If you think that’s the point Pete was making them maybe you should do a bit of research aswell. There you go Pete, your question answered

Presumably a man referencing the 'rule of law' would be attuned to the rights of refugees under international and UK lawIf you think that’s the point Pete was making them maybe you should do a bit of research aswell.
Why's he asking the question if he knows the 'rule of law'?when you quoted his question then came out with a post of figures and percents, where you not answering him ?
If you were then I couldn't see the answer in your post, if you weren't then why quote his question ?
Our government have insisted that those that export to the UK register, enlist an agent and pay additional fees before doing so. This absolutely favours medium and larger companies that import at scale to the detriment of choice and quality.OK, let’s go with this one. So having just done a FTA with Japan, you are now saying that Japanese toolmakers will not sell their products in the U.K. So do you have any hard evidence of this ?.....
See the reply to Pete mate.If you mean the Japanese chisels you do know it's an availability problem not a customs problem
Unless you mean other craftsmen, in which case which skillset do they have and what tools are they missing out on ?
It was in answer to him. Pete made the point that the refugees are coming from Europe mainland. And that they should stay there rather than travel through Europe to come us.when you quoted his question then came out with a post of figures and percents, where you not answering him ?

The point is most them are. And the figures i provided shows that.
They aren’t fleeing Europe though. They are fleeing places like Syria (which is why Lebanon has so many). We are WAY down on the list when it comes to refugees seeing asylum.
We have less refugees as a proportion of our population than the US and Russia. You know, those two massive open and accepting regimes.
People are stuffing themselves into dingys to escape war and famine. We take very few given that we are one of the wealthiest societies in the world.
The figures show we don’t have a refugee problem. But people have been convinced that we do and that it should be someone else’s problem.
The figure for Iranian refugees seeing asylum to the U.K. in 2018 was *500*. We accepted around 75% of them.We take more applicants from Iran than any other country, Albania is in 2nd place for applications to the UK.
Can't fault anyone escaping a war torn country or escaping persecution.
