Unfortunately I believe in the rule of Law. If a load of French or German nationals turned up on our shores packed in boats the answer would be the same, send them back. This should have been happening in normal times, but in times of Covid 19 more so. I have no problem with anyone, from anywhere in the world, coming here provided it’s done legally. It is the reluctance to effectively deal with this issue, process people and either let them stay or send them back, that allows certain groups to jump on a bandwagon and stir up racial issues. Patel just needs to do the job properly.....
Patel is a pretty disgusting human. Easily the worst of the front bench.
It’s not about legality. The language and discourse used by the press and politicians, regarding people (often very vulnerable) wanting to move here to improve their lives has to change. Completely dehumanising and shameful.

How do they know that they are illegal immigrants and not refugees/asylum seekers?

Surely they are refugees until asylum has been granted? And if asylum isn’t granted, that’s the point at which they become illegal immigrants?

Or do you think they determine that on a boat in the middle of the channel?

Ok, a few things to consider. Firstly, there is no way for people to claim asylum unless they are on British soil. Secondly, to access British soil requires a visa that most refugees aren't going to get. Do you think people get in trucks or dinghies because they prefer it to the plane or ferry? Ffs. You can't be this sheltered from the world, surely?

That and Britain actually taking responsibilities seriously. Last year as part of our UN agreements we were supposed to take in at least 5,000 refugees. We took 800, but Patel and her Home Office continued to pump out nonsense about people in dinghies when they literally have no other choice.

Asylum from what Bruce, the French, the Italians, the Germans or the Dutch. You would have me believe that the EU is heaven on earth with all its beauty and opportunities. So what is it that they seek asylum from ?.....

My point exactly. Deal with the problem correctly and the rhetoric will go away...

Yeah, surreal that the best craftsmen in the UK can't get the tools they need from similar minded craftsmen in the rest of the world when we've just had a massive campaign for just that outcome.

OK, let’s go with this one. So having just done a FTA with Japan, you are now saying that Japanese toolmakers will not sell their products in the U.K. So do you have any hard evidence of this ?.....

If you mean the Japanese chisels you do know it's an availability problem not a customs problem

Unless you mean other craftsmen, in which case which skillset do they have and what tools are they missing out on ?
